I am a med student and need help. I have a pt.premenopause looking for contraception use as she is undesirous of pregnancy (hormone replacement is not an issue to her-but may be to me soon) 5’4" 123 lbs who has a hx. of hyperlipidemia, bronchitis and sinusitis, FMHx breast ca. maternal aunt..SHx smoke 1 ppd, etoh 3-4x’s week, 3-4 caffeinated beverages a day. Meds include Allegra D, montelukast and simvistatin PE-138/88 fibrocystic breast changes and otherwise benign assessment findings.
I don’t feel as though she is a candidate for COCs but what about depoprovera or low estrogen/progesterone (weighing risk vs. benefits)? My first choice is the diaphragm…thoughts? Thank you for your time and consideration

I am in need of a little advice. I have been bleeding while on Depo provera for the past 6 months off and on. I have actually been on Depo for 4 1/2 years and the only problems I ever experienced before were spotting to light period around the time I was due for my next injection. It was awesome for these past 4 years because before it I had horribly heavy long lasting periods that left me very anemic. But for the past 6 months I have been bleeding on and off (mostly on), going from spotting to very heavy with clots. I’ve consulted my OB/GYN office about it and they just say that’s all normal with Depo and see how the next shot goes. It’s really annoying that they think bleeding constantly for 6 months is ok and they’re about to make me go another 3 months of it so that I’ll probably be bleeding for 9 months before they show any concern at all. I’ve looked online for answers. The only similar stories I can find to mine are women that have just started using Depo or premenopause symptoms in women that don’t use Depo. Bleeding isn’t the only problem and I’ve explained this to my OB. I told a friend about my issues and she said I seem to have many of the same symptoms as her (she’s not on Depo and age 43) and was diagnosed with premenopause. I am really starting to wonder if that isn’t my problem also. I’m only 33 but I think it’s possible. My mom was done with menopause all together by age 42 so early menopause runs in my family. Does anyone have any advice for me? My next shot is Friday. Here are the other symptoms I have:
*Night Sweats- I wake up every couple nights completely soaked.
*Hair loss on my head but hair growth on my face
*Memory problems
*Social anxiety- this is odd for me. I’ve never liked crowds but now I start shaking and feeling panicky when out in social settings with my husband.
*Bleeding more after working out
*Loss of sex drive- probably caused by bleeding all the time. This is ruining my marriage.
I truly appreciate anything anyone can give me. The Dr’s office is making me feel crazy for being concerned. They show no empathy at all and their only suggestions are to see how the next shot goes. I’m so frustrated!

My friend is 51 and has small hot flashes followed by cold chills. She is on her period and still have hot and cold chills. I thought you cant have hot flashes while you are on your period?
She had a benign tumor removed from her leg in Dec 2009. Her hot flashes were worst but milder after surgery. Why is hot flashes continuing during period time?

Most of the time I like the feel of thick maxis between my legs during my period. I know it sounds weird but I’m sure I’m not the only one…am I?

I want to take my girlfriend for a gynecological exam. We live in the Chicago land area and I was wondering which clinic would be the best to take her too? What is the average cost of a visit or are there any free clinics that would be able to do it?

I was due for the shot roughly June 21st and didn’t get it. It has been a few weeks. I was wondering if anyone could give some feedback on when your menstrual cycle is supposed to return?
I was on it for 1 year.

My grandmother went through "the change" at 36 years old, my mother went through it at 32 years old….. I am almost 28. I have two children but do want another, should I take this into consideration? I have had one doctor tell me my biological clock is ticking and have to go for a thyroid ultrasound this month. Could the problems I am having be because of this (thyroid looks "full", body aches & pains, and hot flashes)? I have arthritis so the pains could be from that and I have epilepsy which cause some hot flashes during & after. Sorry this is long but once the change happens there is no going back and saying "ya I think im ready for another child now."

Yeah, this is a little embarrassing, but whenever I try to remove my tampon, it either hits my fingers or the rim of the toilet. I’m trying to take it out slowly so that it doesn’t swing around, but it’s a huge ordeal. Any tips?

They get more male features and lose their womanly features; so what if you inject more female hormones (estrogen) into a female in her teen years?
Thanks.

Okay, so here’s the thing. I would never normally do this but I accidentally (don’t ask) flushed a tampon. In a high pressure toilet in Germany, without a tank, old building. Didn’t notice any problems until a couple days later, the seal on the pipe going into the floor started leaking, but stopped when I pushed it back in. Two weeks later, the toilet started rocking when I sat on it. Is the tampon the cause of this?

I have a really close friend in Philly who is gay. Recently he told me that he is transgender and will be taking hormones soon. My question is, can hormones really make a guy look female? He has small hands and feet, and honestly he does not look unattractive facewise when dressed as a female. He has soft features already, but he is a little on the chubby side. I support him 100% if this is what he wants, but can he really look like a woman?

My doctor prescribed me 10mg of Provera for 10 days to regulate my periods (I was bleeding literally non-stop for about 3 years). The doctor said that it would stop my period and then it would restart itself. I stopped taking it the end of last month. I was wondering how long after I stop taking the Provera would the bleeding stop?
