the hypothalamus stimulates GnRH to stimulate pituitary which, in turn, stimulates the (FSH) , this then stimulates ovaries or in pregnant females, the placenta to make estrogen/progesterone.
so, yes, almond shaped glands = ovaries.
The glands in vertebrates are called ovaries. They are located next to the uterus and attached by ligaments to it. They produce estrogen and egg cells from the ovarian follicles.
