Can I use over the counter Progesterone Cream or do i have to get the progesterone cream that is prescribed?

We are having an IUI done on the 14th of AUG and my dr wants me to use some progesterone cream and she ordered me a prescription and it is 0, and then someone told me that you can buy it over the counter for way less.
Is it the over the counter the same as the prescription?

It probably isn’t going to be nearly the same strength over the counter. The cream that is prescribed is probably closer to what a person would make naturally, while the creams you can buy (at places like GNC) won’t have the same amount of hormone quantity.
It’s like having Tylenol versus Tylenol 3 (which is prescription strength) Tylenol works, but when you are prescribed Tylenol 3 there is a reason for it.
