Recently went to the doctor and had my TSH levels tested. My tsh level was 0.56. While this number is in the normal level, is it the high end or low end. Which is this number closer to, hyper or hypo?

also he tested my fsh level and it was 3.7. where does this fit in the perimenopause/menopause scale?

any help would be appreciated! I just don’t understand why I have normal levels, but have so many symptoms.

I have started having hot flashes along with many other symptoms and am definitely in peri-menopause. However, I also feel very jittery inside and I don’t find this symptom listed anywhere in any of the material I have read. Have any of you ever experienced a nervous, jittery feeling with perimenopause?

I am a 44 yr old woman of African descent. About 6 months ago I cut my waist-long, all-natural, 21 yr old dreadlocks. I was surprised to find the texture of my hair completely changed. Before it was VERY thick, coarse, and nappy (I don’t consider "nappy" a pejorative term, as "nap" actually refers to the texture of a rich, heavy fabric like velvet). But after being cut it was very soft and curly. I thought maybe it was a temporary thing, but 6 months later it’s still the same. I cut my dreads because my hair was thinning due to medications, & they were all about to break off anyway. My question- have any other POC experienced a dramatic change in hair texture like this? Is this something that sometimes happens with the natural aging process? with perimenopause? Or are the meds to blame (interferon & ribavirin)? I don’t think it’s due to the long time wearing dreadlocks because I’ve noticed a similar change in my body hair. It’s a mystery!

I’ve been blessed with a great complexion, what they call here in the south a "peaches and cream" complexion. I get an occasional pimple and that’s it. My skin has never been oily or dry, just normal. All I’ve ever had to use is a light moisturizer. All of a sudden my skin is SO dry. My cheeks and chin, upper arms, back and legs are extremely dry. I’ve tried moisturizer for extra dry skin, tried putting it on as soon as I get out of the shower to seal the moisture in. It’s been pretty dry here lately, but we have a humidifier to help with that. I drink plenty of water. I am 42 years old and technically in perimenopause. Could this be a hormonal issues. Does anyone have any ideas, tips, suggestions etc…?

Can panic attacks indicate that menopause or perimenopause is on it’s way? I am 33, and just started having panic attacks this year and I wonder if there is any correlation. Do all women who are in menopause have panic attacks? Can panic attacks indicate something else?
Lola, unfortunately you didn’t answer my question. I am not asking what to do about menopause, but if panic attacks can indicate that menopause is on the way. Thanks.

I turned 37 this year, so i guess that’s considered perimenopause. "pre".
my sex drive has gone thru the roof. it is unsatiable.
I can be with my man or by myself and 2 hours later I want more. My private parts feel like they are in a state of constant arousal.
and there is something else. ..I am almost embarassed. I have begun squirting.
why is all this happening now in life?

I have not had a period for 6 months except lite staining every now and then. i still get tummy swelling, backache, breast tenderness and irritability but nothing like i used to. i don’t get it to often but it is noticeable. what is going on?

I’m 31, never had kids, and am not currently sexually active. I skipped two periods earlier this year, and now I’m having my second period in a month. It’s pretty heavy and painful.

I am a 37-year-old female. My periods last only 18 to 24 hours now (previously lasted two days or so). My gyn thinks I’m starting to go through perimenopause.

At any rate, here’s the question: In the past year, it seems as if eight to ten hours before I start my period (like CLOCKWORK), I become suicidally depressed and extremely tearful and can’t control my crying. Is this because my hormones are dipping at this time? Used to not be like this.

A dear friend said that recently one of her nipples became inverted. She is going through perimenopause. She goes in to see a doctor next week. In the meantime, I’m trying to find out information to help her learn as much as she can and perhaps what to ask her doctor.
