Clomid->Ovulation->temps up and down–is progesterone cream safe?
I am on my first round of clomid, I have ovulated on day 17, which is great for me! My temps are going up and down since, I can not reach my OB (because of the long weekend) for three days. I am on 7 dpo. I started natural progesterone cream yesterday, because I wanted to keep my temps up. Looks like it’s working, this morning it was high, but I am still not sure, if it’s a good idea. I have been TTC for a year now, miscarried once. I also have insulin resistance. Any advice would be appreciated.

Since you have already started the progesterone cream, continue taking it (don’t stop now as stopping progesterone now can induce period prematurely which is NOT good if pregnant). You can switch to some other form of progseterone when the doctor returns (assuming he doesn’t like the form that you are taking). Regardless of which one you are taking now, continue taking progesterone till 14dpo.
Do a pregnancy test at 14dpo and if negative then stop taking it. Good luck.
I read on the internet that progesterone creams can and cannot work. Some are made with artificial progesterone, and therefore cause your body to be out of whack so to speak. Best advice is not to use progesterone without a Dr’s prescription. Your Dr. should have a back up on call person at the very least, or have a way that you can leave a message with a nurse and the Dr. call you back. Even a nurse practitioner (someone who works closely with the Dr.) would be able to prescribe progesterone if needed. I would say that if your Dr. did not prescribe it to begin with, then they do not think you are progesterone deficient and you shouldn’t be taking it.
