D and C is a procedure to scrape and collect the tissue (endometrium) from inside the uterus. Dilatation ("D") is a widening of the cervix to allow instruments into the uterus. Curettage ("C") is the scraping of the contents of the uterus.

You need to call your OB/Gyn NOW and get clarification. Wasn’t the procedure explained to you in full? A dilation and curettage vacuums away the thickened uterine lining but doesn’t remove fibroid tumors.
The procedures for fiborid treatment that preserve the uterus (don’t involve hysterectomy) include myomectomy, myolysis, cryomylosis, endometrial ablation, uterine artery embolization (doesn’t affect fibroids outside the interior uterine lining) and focused ultrasound.
The usual approach is to monitor the fibroids without actually removing or treating them. Wait and watch. There are also meds – Gn-RH agonists and androgens – that can be used to shrink fibroids.
You will be signing a consent form before your procedure and it must be an informed consent, you must understand what it is you will be signing. If your expectation is different from what you get, you haven’t been informed. Please call your doctor now.

Hi. I myself had the same thing happen to me where I was bleeding for almost 2 months straight. I was scheduled for a dnc and hystorscopic as well. He was going to scrape my uterus and cervix.
