Does sperm production stop when a m2f pre-op transsexual begins hormone therapy?
My question is if a pre-op transsexual woman (who has began hormone therapy) has sexual intercourse with a biological woman, could she become pregnant?
I ask this because I have been dating a transsexual woman for 5 1/2 months now, and I’m wondering if any birth control will be needed or necessary when we become intimate in the future?
Thank you
I’m referring to the risk of ME becoming pregnant.

You shouldn’t be able to get pregnant unless you have the right parts. Find out the parts females need to get pregnant, find out the parts males need to make a girl preggy, and ask your doctor what parts you still have/have now.
I know that ftm’s can get pregnant of they are on testostorone and have sex with a man
not sure of the other way tho, surely oestrogen would disrupt sperm production?, I use birth contol just to be safe
I have to wonder about this whole situation. Why is this woman having sex with you? I mean why is she using IT? Psychologically it doesn’t make sense. And physiologically estrogen usually makes erections difficult if not impossible.
I would stay on BCP’s until she gets her surgery (SRS). Better safe than sorry.
Not completely
sperm count does drop quite a bit, but rarely does it ever completely stop with just hormone therapy
In fact I have met some MTF’s that have fathered children while being on hormone therapy for many years
Though unlikely, it could happen, so I would recommend birth control
well, each body is different so time lines might vary…but if your gf is on a clinical level of androgen blockers it won’t take long for her to cease producing sperm. that’s something she can check herself….but consulting with the doctor might give you a more reassuring answer.
much love and hope. pj
after some time on hormones sperm production will stop completely, so will erections.
you might wanna get checked because it is a gradual and variable process and its better to be safe than sorry.
Zak is prolly the most accurate thus far. The use of full HRT in tandem with anti-androgens will cease the majority of sperm production and eliminate most erectile function in a short time. If your MtF is still able to get a full erection she is likely still fertile. Honestly I do not know of one real true and/or primary transwoman who would like to utilize the original genitalia, especially once on HRT. I would look more carefully at her hormone regimen and speak to her Dr. about this as well. Just the same from your description I would be careful and use birth control for now. Soon if she is a real TS this will not be possible anyway. It takes on average 3 months to chemical castration.

Protection is always an intelligent step in any relationship.
Odds are if she has begun HRT or if she has been on it long term, your chance of an unplanned pregnancy are slim.
I do know one of my female friends who is trans had to go off HRT for a brief spell, and she was devastated that even after two years of it, her reproductive tract bounced back with a vengeance. So it’s not a sure thing with every woman.
Personally, I think the use of protection, be it hormonal for yourself, a barrier method, or "low risk" loving for a time, is the best call until you are certain she is either shooting blanks or not shooting at all.
