Hot flushes and feeling slightly faint during pregnancy. What is it? (30 weeks)?
I’m 30 weeks with twins and my face just got really hot and I felt a little like I was going to pass out. I’m not doing anything right now, just sat down relaxing watching tv and looking on here.
I’m already on iron tablets and have been since I was 12 weeks, and I’m also on an increased dose (5mg rather than 400mcg) of folic acid every other day (because taking it every day made me too ill).
Other than anaemia, which is not possible, plus I had blood tests done 2 weeks ago for that and haemoglobin, what could it be?
I had an appointment on Monday and nothing was wrong then.
I’m sure I was having a Braxton Hicks contraction at the same time too. It’s mostly discomfort in my back when I get them and sometimes in my stomach as well. I’m having twins so when I get it in different places, I get a different type of contraction. Sounds weird I know, but it’s true lol
I’m just so confused as I wasn’t doing anything and I’ve never had it happen to me before except when I was having my bloods done at 12 weeks when I nearly passed out due to a fear of needles.

I was having this alot from about 18weeks onwards, i’ve not had it in a couple of weeks though, i got my blood tested for anaemia and to check my glucose levels when i told my midwife about these symptoms, they both came back fine, the midwife put it down to either the baby lying on a nerve or just a normal pregnancy symptom.
If you were having braxton hicks at the same time, it might be that what caused you to feel like that, i think i’ve been experiencing braxton hicks recently and i feel as though i’m about to throw up when i get them, i just feel really ill for a few minutes, hopefully i’m not like that when i experience the real things.
So, i think it’s normal, but you might want to mention it at your next appointment, or if you get it everyday or quite often then you might want to phone the midwife and see what she recommends.
It’s just hormones.. even more so since youre having twins. When you feel that way, just drink some cold water and lay on your left side. You will feel better in no time!
Aaaah, the joys of raging hormones. I’m almost 29 weeks, and I have had the same symptoms several times in the past 2 weeks. I kept wondering why my face was so flushed recently–and sometimes I feel like the blood is rushing to my head. I notice the light-headedness more in the mornings, it seems.
Your body is changing as your twins are now growing rapidly. Blood volume is already increased, add to that everything "shifting" inside of you–it’s enough to make anyone feel a little woozy.
If you are really concerned, call your Dr. and tell him/her your symptoms to be on the safe side.
Best wishes!
