Ah, congratulations on entering the world of horrid womanliness. 0_0.
Tips?
DON’T DRINK CAFFEINE!
Don’t ingest caffeine.
Don’t have anything to do with caffeine.
Except chocolate. But don’t over-do it.
Ingesting caffeine is proven to make cramps wayyy worse than you’d ever want them!
I’d suggest getting a nice bottle of Midol or Pamprin. They get rid of bloating, cramps, and fatigue. Among other things.
Menstrual calendar?
At first your menstrual periods will be irregular, so you’ll just have to wait and see when your menstruations will be.
When you start to get cranky, crave chocolate, feel bloated, and feel kind of tired; I’d say that’s a clear sign that you’re getting your period.
Changing pads?
You should change your pads as often as you would change tampons.
But for pads, it’s a little longer of an interval. That’s approximately every 2 to 3 hours. For tampons, you should change them every 2 hours.
Using tampons?
I didn’t start using tampons until I was 14. Granted, I started menstruating when I was 8. But oh well.
En. Since I started when I was 8, I didn’t know what it was, and I thought I was dying. So it wasn’t awkward at all to tell my mum; although I did wait for another couple days after I "started".
you can wear tampons when ever you like, its just the size tampon you should have. (start out small)
you wont know when the next one is comming because your period for the first year will be irregular, still have a planner and write down when you get it beucase then you will know when it becomes regular.
you should change your pads when they are a mess or close to being. (and when you wake up)
you should change tampons when you can see red on the string thats hanging out.
yes it was very awkward to tell my mother, we were in the airport comming back from puerto rica! and see screamed across the baggage area " alicia has her period jim!" i was mortified but i needed to know how to deal with it and now i do.
Congrats!
You wont really know when your next period will start. Especially now that you’ve just begun having them, your periods can be very erratic even for a few years! You could go a month or two without even having another one and thats normal! When you begin cramping, having more discharge than usual that doesn’t smell, etc then be on the look out!
You should change your pads as needed. Don’t wait until they are no longer working and cant absorb more so you’re leaking all over the place, but don’t immediately change them as soon as you get blood on them. Its just something you’ll learn with time.
You can use tampons whenever you feel like starting. Just make sure you read the little phamphlet that comes with them and practice!!
It should never be awkward to tell your mom. She’s been having to deal with this a lot longer than you have and she’ll understand!
