I have absolutely no symptoms of menopause, which after my high dose radiation to my pelvis for cervical cancer, I was told I would have symptoms. They put me on low-ogestrel which is a very low dose BCP, and told me it would help some of the symptoms but I would still know it was menopause.

I do realize that my oncologist and radiologist have never had even one patient which did not go into menopause after the treatment I received. The only reason I feel that I may be a little different is because my anatomy is messed up…my left ovary is very high in my abdomen, almost by my stomach. It is in the place my doctor was going to move my ovaries to prior to my radiation to try and move them out of the major field of radiation. But since cancer was found in lymph nodes he was fearful that this could track cancer higher into my abdomen and we decided the ovarian transposition (moving them up) was not a good choice just to be on the safe side.

After an egg retrieval cycle, that’s when I found out that my ovary was so high up. I had to have a transabdominal retrieval which is rarely done because my ovary was so high up, it could only be viewed on ultrasound through my stomach (they said good thing I have a thin mid-section, or they wouldn’t have known where the ovary was).

The only way I can have my FSH level tested is if I stop taking the BCP’s all together. My oncologist thinks its slightly possible that I lucked out and maybe my ovary is still functional.

What would be the side effects I could expect after stopping the low-dose BCP if I am in fact in menopause?

What are the chances that this pill actually has eliminated all signs of menopause?

Thanks. I would really appreciate any educated/professional opinions on this. I just survived stage 2B cervical cancer at age 27 and I am praying this one ovary is still functioning by some miracle so that in the future I could do another egg retrieval cycle if necessary. The first one went alright but could’ve been better.

Progesterone Cream during luteal phase?

My hubby and I are trying to conceive. This is my third cycle off BCP and over the last couple of cycles, I noticed a luteal phase defect (9 days). This cycle, I began using natural progesterone cream right after ovulation on CD19. Today is CD 28 and my basal temp is still up. I took a pregnancy tests this morning with a 20hcg sensitivity and it was negative. Usually, I’ve been starting or spotting on cd28, but nothing yet. I am thinking that the progesterone cream is working, or is it possible that I still could be pregnant and hcg still hasnt produced yet. My questioin is whether or not I should continue to use the progesterone cream just in case? Also, will the cream keep AF from coming…because I don’t want to keep it from coming if I am not preggo?
I am usikng 1/8 tsp per day which is 19 mg. Is that too much?
