I was taking birth control pills up until last Saturday, then I got a depo provera shot to change methods. So I went from one contraceptive right to another with no break inbetween. I was suppose to start my period this week, but I haven’t yet. Would the depo provera shot have stopped my period already after just a few days?

Which birth control is better for heavy periods?

I have a condition where I get REALLY heavy periods that can last for weeks at a time. I’m trying to decide between going on the Depo Provera shot or to go on Mirena. Does anyone know which is better at stopping heavy periods?

Bleeding with Depo Provera for 6 months?

I am in need of a little advice. I have been bleeding while on Depo provera for the past 6 months off and on. I have actually been on Depo for 4 1/2 years and the only problems I ever experienced before were spotting to light period around the time I was due for my next injection. It was awesome for these past 4 years because before it I had horribly heavy long lasting periods that left me very anemic. But for the past 6 months I have been bleeding on and off (mostly on), going from spotting to very heavy with clots. I’ve consulted my OB/GYN office about it and they just say that’s all normal with Depo and see how the next shot goes. It’s really annoying that they think bleeding constantly for 6 months is ok and they’re about to make me go another 3 months of it so that I’ll probably be bleeding for 9 months before they show any concern at all. I’ve looked online for answers. The only similar stories I can find to mine are women that have just started using Depo or premenopause symptoms in women that don’t use Depo. Bleeding isn’t the only problem and I’ve explained this to my OB. I told a friend about my issues and she said I seem to have many of the same symptoms as her (she’s not on Depo and age 43) and was diagnosed with premenopause. I am really starting to wonder if that isn’t my problem also. I’m only 33 but I think it’s possible. My mom was done with menopause all together by age 42 so early menopause runs in my family. Does anyone have any advice for me? My next shot is Friday. Here are the other symptoms I have:

*Night Sweats- I wake up every couple nights completely soaked.

*Hair loss on my head but hair growth on my face

*Memory problems

*Social anxiety- this is odd for me. I’ve never liked crowds but now I start shaking and feeling panicky when out in social settings with my husband.

*Bleeding more after working out

*Loss of sex drive- probably caused by bleeding all the time. This is ruining my marriage.

I truly appreciate anything anyone can give me. The Dr’s office is making me feel crazy for being concerned. They show no empathy at all and their only suggestions are to see how the next shot goes. I’m so frustrated!

I’m getting an exam tomorrow and I’m supposed to get my depo provera shot. I have an ovarian cyst, and I was wondering if I’ll still be able to get the shot with my cyst?

Can anyone who has had the shot or is currently on the shot tell me the good side & the bad side to doing the Depo-Provera shot?

I got pregnant using an IUD with my last baby, so now I am very paranoid about being pregnant again. I got my shot about two months ago, and for the past week or so i’ve been having spotting when I wipe, and now it’s starting to turn a light pink color. Can spotting from the depo provera shot be pink?

I just went on Depo-Provera (The shot for Birth Control) and I haven’t got my period at all. Isn’t it to soon to not get my period?

gotten pregnant while on the depo provera? FYI: i do NOT want to get pregnant.
Thank you for your input.

is there any chance i could lose weight from a depo provera shot? or do i have to put up with gaining weight?
is there anyone out there who has lost weight from it?

Can the Depo Provera shot cause joint pain?

I have Sjogren’s syndrome, and started the Depo Provera shots for other reasons last week. I know joint pain is a common symptom of sjogren’s syndrome, but prior to the shot my joint pain was negligible. Could the shot be causing this, or is it more likely a flair up of my SS? My skin and eyes are dryer, too.

My girlfriend gets depo-provera injections. She wants to take prenatal vitamins to stimulate hair growth. Will that make the birth control less effective, or are the progesterone levels still too high for the vitamins to make a difference? Basically what I’m asking is if I should start pulling out once she starts taking them. I don’t want to ask her because I don’t know if that is a stupid question, or seem selfish.

In Oct. I got one injection of the depo provera in my left arm then the second injection in Jan. also in my left arm. Can I expect any side effects?

I have been on depo provera for 3 months (had one injection) and am due for another. I am not sure I would like to get another one knowing that it may be hard to get pregnant. How long after only one injection will it take to get pregnant again? (take note that my husband and i were very fertile before the depo injection). Thanks.

My last shot of depo provera expired two months ago. My worst side effect was that I had period bleeding everyday of the three months after I had the shot! I decided to not get another shot and it’s been two months where I still haven’t had a period. I would like to start birth control pills but don’t know when to since I haven’t had a period. HELP!

Are fevers a sign of menopause?

I am a 46 year old on depo provera and am having fevers, night sweats and hot flashes. Could this be a sign of menopause?
