Does anyone here know if having a spike in blood sugar can bring on a period? I had a problem yesterday where my blood sugar spiked. I got really sick from it, and today I started my period, but I’m not due to start for two more weeks. My husband’s 1st wife was diabetic and said she had a lot of problems with her cycles due to this, but it doesn’t seem that it spiking once would cause this. So, I’m trying to figure out if it’s due to blood sugar or possibly signs of early menopause. Two months ago, I skipped a month, so something is out of whack. Any personal situations like this? I had gestational diabetes with my son two years ago, so the possibility of diabetes is there. However, I check periodically and haven’t had a problem, until yesterday, when I ate something that spiked it.
my cycles are EXTREMELY regular, that’s what has me wondering. I’m trying to get some ideas before I go to the dr. These days, you have to do that or they just rush you in and out without any answers! I’ve learned to go in with a list of symptoms first, and an idea of what I think it might be.
I had gestational diabetes 2 1/2 yrs. ago, and that means my chances of developing diabetes is much higher than the average person’s, so I check it periodically. I only checked it the other day because I was extremely sick. My speech was slurred, I couldn’t form my words, etc. I was about to go to the er, but I’m not the type to run to the dr. unless I really feel I need to. So I checked my blood pressure, it was fine. Then I realized those are signs of a blood sugar issue, and it was really high, considering it was 1 1/2 hours after I ate something I shouldn’t have, which means that it was high enough prior to that to make me as sick as I was. After doing things to lower that even more, I wasn’t as sick, so I didn’t bother going to the er. Within three hours, I was fine again. I only mentioned my husband’s 1st wife to say that he has experience with this, and what he told me.
Ten years ago my sister, at the age I am now, began missing periods occasionally, having more than one other times. She now knows it was signs of early menopause, but didn’t think anything about it at the time. When you are as regular as I am, it IS a big deal when you miss, or have more than one in a month, and I’m trying to figure out if my blood sugar is affecting my cycles, or if I could be entering early menopause. We’re trying to have another baby, otherwise it wouldn’t matter. And no, at this point the hormone levels wouldn’t show a drop, because it’s too early. They only show a drop closer to menopause. My sister’s dr. said basically that when you have gone for six months without a period, you’ve hit menopause. Not very scientific. That’s why I’m looking for people who have experienced what I’m talking about.

Why do I have night sweats?

I will wake up in the middle of the night and the sheets are all damp and I am covered in sweat.
Lol, thanks Ben.
The last time I checked I was 27 and I still had my penis.
I really doubt I have diabetes. I am 6’3 180lbs and in good health. I don’t even drink soda and I don’t eat before I go to bed. I think it might be my thyroid.

What do these symptoms sound like to you.?

Stomach spasms (not painful) on and off for the last year.
Constipation and then some times stool is like water on occasion. More often consitpation.

Lightheaded sometimes. Constant dry mouth, and urination certain times. Dry skin sleepy right after eating, head ache, sweat alot in my sleep even though I am cold. Constantly feel hungry. Some times I get irritable with long periods of not eating, and certain foods cause massive GERD. I have GERD and I do not have diabetes. I was tested for that 2 years ago. I am tired of going to the doctor. Just wondering if anyone has had similiar symptoms. I don’t always feel horrible, I almost feel dehydrated all the time, but I drink tons of water and gatorade.

No , I know I am not pregant 100% sure.

And, I am not going through menopause.

I like to think that I am not overweight or psychially out of wack. I am a 30 year old female.

Night sweats in men, what causes them?

Off and on for the last few years I have had night sweats which bring me out of sleep drenched from head to toe. Recently, I had a tonsillectomy and was prescribed vicodin pills. I also have not smoked or drank alcohol in nearly three weeks. A few months ago I was tested for HIV and it came back negative. I’m not really sure what to think at this point, I am starting to wonder whether I have diabetes.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in February. 2000mg metformin, 5 mg glucotrol, 1200mg lopid. Since then all of the problems I have been having with lack of progesterone, periods lasting for 3 months and aweful yeast infections, deforming leg cramps, insatiable thirst, and a few more symptoms are all fixed, I hope. My question is does my period problems have anything to do with my having diabetes or vise versa.
In January my BS was 480+ , my A1c was 10.8, my Triglycerides were 846. now my BS is 106, last check my A1c 9.0, and Triglycerides are 511. period and yeast problems are better. I’d like to say everything is great, but don’t want to jinx it. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experiences.

Hi. My mom needs a total hysterectomy but we were wondering if it is better to just leave the ovaries there instead of taking them out. Is it true that if the ovaries were left there and there happens to be a growth forming there will be no chance of knowing until the final stage?
My mom is 47, already has type 2 diabetes, and is a little overweight but not obese or anything.
Please kindly help.

What is causing my night sweats?

I am 10 years menopausal. In the past 6 months I have woken up each morning sweating. Could this be a symptom of something I’m not aware of? I have diabetes Type 2, hypothyriodism, hyperlipidism, high blood pressure, and a history of migraines. I monitor myself at home and everything is alright except for blood sugar readings steadily climbing up to 200 with oral meds, diet, and exercise. Any suggestions?

Due to prolonged(>16 years) PCOD and hormonal imbalance, i have developed diabetes, osteoporosis, fatty liver…and other such complications

He’s about 56 years old, and was diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago. I think he suffers some stress as well. He takes diabetic medication. For the past few weeks, he’s been having really bad night sweats.

I thought perhaps he could go see an alternative therapist but not sure who would be best for this problem?

my husband has had several episodes of fevers at night followed by extreme night sweats. Feels ok in the morning. Has a diagnosis of pre-diabetes that are under control. Also has been very tired lately? I am worried that it could be Hodgekins? Any thoughts?

“Diabetics Cured By Stem-cell Treatment”?

Do you think this might influence the hearts and minds of diabetics who are opposed to stem cell research on moral or religious grounds?

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/health/article1637528.ece

"Diabetics using stem-cell therapy have been able to stop taking insulin injections for the first time, after their bodies started to produce the hormone naturally again.

In a breakthrough trial, 15 young patients with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes were given drugs to suppress their immune systems followed by transfusions of stem cells drawn from their own blood….."

Try tell us what you think about this issue without bashing, Thanks! Love ya all!
