I found out I had a blighted ovum in April at my first ultrasound. I let it pass naturally and within two weeks it passed. It has been two months already and I still haven’t started my menstrual cycle. I set a doctors apt already but im just curious to know how long did it take for some of you ladies to start your period again?

Most doctors reccomend a low-dose estrogen pill for the least side-effects. Why would one opt for a high dose pill?

My mother has been considering hormone replacement therapy to deal with her menopause, but also for other medical problems that I can’t fully explain. All I can really say about it is the doctors strongly advise the therapy and have warned her about health risks if she doesn’t do it. This isn’t the issue I’m talking about for this question though.
Right now she has only one reason for refusing the treatment. She is afraid that hormone replacement therapy will make her bipolar. I thought the idea was a bit outrageous, but I honestly don’t know for sure. I know bipolar is mostly due to a genetic propensity plus an environmental trigger. I thought bipolar disorder has to manifest itself some time before 40. I need real information for or against this argument.
I know menopause is hard on women. That’s why I’m taking this issue seriously and trying to get accurate information on it so that she can make a safe, intelligent decision based on fact and not superstition.

Okay my husband is about to join the army and I am half-way through my pregnancy and really dont want to switch doctors but it looks like I am going to have to. I am trying to find a good obgyn that takes tricare in indianapolis. I really dont want to drive far away.

My mother had a hysterectomy a while ago and the doctors prescribed her a high dosage ( 50,000IU) of vitamin D and she suffering from some side effects and i was wondering whats going on? What can she do to get off of these meds? Does anybody else suffer from this?

For the last week or two I’ve had on and off type pain and it bothers me every day and is sometimes very sharp. I heard that most cysts go away by themselves (mine got smaller) but I’m concerned about ovarian cancer and there’s a huge cancer history in my family but so far no ovarian cancer and my hysterectomy was not for cancer. I read that some benign cysts will require treatment in that they do not go away by themselves, and in quite rare cases, others may be cancerous. I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts about five or six years after my (TVH/kept both ovaries) total vaginal hysterectomy. I didn’t have symptoms of ovarian cysts when they were first diagnosed and the doctor ordered the ultrasound and kept an eye on the cysts with updated ultrasounds. The last ultrasound about three years ago showed the cysts got small enough and I didn’t need further ultrasounds.

1. Anyone have advice on dealing with the pain and would heat help if surgery isn’t indicated?

2. If it’s not gas or appendicitis I’m experiencing does anyone know what can be done for them besides taking out the ovary?

One doctor I didn’t like or agree with recommended I get my ovaries removed because of the history of cysts and I didn’t see him for that problem and he refused to help me with why I went in there and think he was just trying to get more money (the wait was over 3 hours in his office).Three other doctors agreed to not take out my ovaries including my surgeon if it wasn’t cancerous as it could prevent me from going into surgical menopause.
Thanks for the info. It’s good to know a cyst can be removed without removing the ovary. A cyst on the left showed up on CT scan so that didn’t cause my pain on the right. My dr. told me to see gastroenterologist for possible bowel spasms. I was previously given a script for spasms but didn’t have anymore. The gastroenterologist’s office wanted me to wait till tomorrow (6 days after being seen by gyn) to be seen as dr. was booked solid. I also got an answer at this link everyone should see. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkWrK0KNEPFeijkgqQyW4Wzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091118172510AA9p5Dv

A family member died from e-coli in her system which spread to all her organs and she refused to be seen by a dr. because she was to embarrassed about her weight. Had she gone in she’d be alive today. I was lucky I persisted and had them take me in that same day. I found out I had a fever (97.8) in gastroenterologist’s office being masked by Celebrex or it may have been caught earlier.

I really want to get off the hormones, ive been on different types of hormonal birth control for 5 years, including 2 years on Depo Provera. I am worried about the crazy side effects of getting off Depo, is there anything I can take to help?
I have heard of doctors recommending the pill but the point is to get off hormones.

Two months ago I started spotting a week before my period was due so I figured my period was coming but it never did. When I finally did get my period on 10/10/08, a month late, it was extremely heavy. Now it is about 2 weeks before my period is due and I am spotting again and it kind of hurts. I have a doctors appt. next thursday but I am worried until then.

yeast Infection?

I don’t know if I have one, but i have yellowy-green discarge and i mean sometimes there is so much that it soaks through. & there are these weird black specs in my discharge too. The smell is horrible, realllly strong fishy odor, and sometimes I am itchy down there. Also is there a way if i had it that I could treat it without going to the doctor, I have a fear of the doctors and would like to avoid it but I will go if I need to. & is a yeast infection fatal? Please no mean answers…
No, I am not sexually active

Ive been married over twenty years , about late last year. I felt my wife being distant no intimacy ,kissing ,touching, well you know no sex . At first I thought it was a fase she was going threw but then 1 month became 2 and 2 became 3 . Before you know it 6 months went by every time I insinuate she says she really doesn’t feel like it. She also says she loves me very much and to please understand.Im in my fifties so what do you do , I decided to read on women’s health. Her symptoms are saying to me premenopause , I thought great maybe a pill .Like hormone replacement therapy , but if I love my wife the risks outweigh the benefits. To risky my beautiful wife could get some kind of cancer , so no that is out the door.I want to be Intimate but I want her alive. So basically what Im saying if you ladies are going threw something like this? Is there something else that we don’t know that is out there? Don’t say doctors because they only push HRT is what drug companies want and is a repeat Business later for them when you get cancer.P.S. Im not thinking with my pecker sometimes a good deep kiss and a little a$$ grabbing goes a long way.

In Dec I got my period on the 1st of the month, also on the 29th of the month, 28 days apart, no big deal, but In Jan I got it on the 24th of the month, 3 days sooner then expected, I guess that’s normal, it’s only the 17th of Feb & I’m spotting which means it will be here any day now, so it’s only been 22 days, is this normal? I am 45 yrs old & my periods have been regular up until now. Am I starting to go through perimenopause? Will my periods go back to normal? I don’t have health insurance so it’s not like I can run to the doctors. It’s not all that big of a deal, but it seems like every time I turn around I’m on my period, & to get it twice in one month, come on now.
