I have missed my period for a consecative three months but have done home pregnancy test and were negative. Also i am on the contraceptive pill i have booked an appointment with a gynecologist but amnot sure if a gynecologist even does a pregnency test or can prescrible contraceptive pill.. Can someone help me an tell me if a gynecologist is the best to see about this or would a GP Doctor be better.

Hi
I need to clarify please are there any guidelines should be followed by the consultant while writing a letter to a GP?

Thank you.

Why didn't the obgyn perform a gynecological exam?

On Monday, I went to my first obgyn appointment following a visit earlier this summer to my gp. I primarily went in to get a contraceptive. Now, I know that because of a condition I have for which I have to take medication, my medication may impact how effective the contraceptive will be–hence it could lead to undesired pregnancy and malformation for the baby should I become pregnant. One of my expectations was a gynecological exam. It did not happen. Also, I know that I still haven’t had sex (sic!), so why, considering I am in my late thirties, wasn’t a gynecological exam performed? As well, because of my medical history, the obgyn said that if she were to prescribe a contraceptive, she would prescribe a normal dose contraceptive with a patch? I thought you could give a higher dose. I wonder is that combination plausible. How effective is it?
Even if I still haven’t had sex (sic!), and considering I have just turned 40, why wasn’t a gynecological exam performed (the gp did do a preliminary one)? Also because of my medical history, the obgyn said that if she were to prescribe a contraceptive, she would prescribe a normal dose contraceptive with a patch? I thought you could simply give a higher dose contraceptive. Excluding the issue of cost, how effective is combining a normal dose contraceptive and a patch?

I’ve had 2 miscarriages (possibly 3), and have read a lot about the use of progesterone cream to help boost the pregnancy at the start. It seems to be something your GP either supports or does not, but there doesnt seem to be any proper proof that it helps or does not.
Has anyone used the cream? I found out yesterday that I am pregnant, and feel as if I want to do "something" to try to prevent it going wrong again. The past 2 months, my luteal phase was 8 or 9 days, so I do believe I have a progesterone problem. I know that if I tell my doctor or midwife, they’ll advise against taking anything when there’s no real reason to take it, however i have read that lots of people have used it with success.
When would I start to wean myself off it? Are there any dangers of using it…? eg can it be a problem when you stop using it…?

my mums been going through the "change" for a couple of years and the worst problem she is having is panic attacks at night, she says she feels like something terrible is going to happen and it keeps her up all night, she also has regular hot flushes, her gp has recommended her to look into herbal remedies which she is also keen on as her mother (my nan) had big problems with the hrt, any advise/recommendations would be great, thanks in advance

his face also goes all distorted ,this happens three or four time’s a day , and can sometimes happen at night too !they only last a few seconds each time ,he as been to see his GP but he just says its a panic attack or maybe anxiety Im not sure can anyone help ?

Is this just PMS or is it early menopause?

I just turned 33. Since 2009 started, my PMS has gotten worse. As soon as my period is over, and I ovulate..I start to have PMS symptoms. I feel bloated, some pelvic pain, some breast pain. I find that particularly one breast in particular is painful.

Because I have noticed a change in my PMS this year, I am concerned that I am going into Menopause. I still get my period. My cycle is around 27-29 days. My period is 5 days long. Even if I am not in menopause yet, I am concerned that having stronger PMS indicates that I will go into the menopause sooner than later.

I started my period at 12, and my Mother didn’t go into the menopause until 50ish. I don’t have any children yet, but would like to eventually conceive. My GP doesn’t believe there is any reason I am starting Perimenopause. Should I ask for a blood test to check my hormone levels? Does this sound like early menopause?

hot flushes?

i have been on hrt for two years and have been told by my gp to come off it, ive been off it for three months now im getting hot flushes day and night what can i take to ease them.

I have advanced prostate cancer and have completed my external beam radiation, both full pelvic treatment and boost targeting the prostate only.

I have had my second hormone shot, every three months, and can’t get a straight answer out of either my Urologist or Oncologist. I have hot flashes, as most do, and chills, but my problem is the stickyness. I feel sticky, I feel that I have an odor, my wife insists I don’t, and if I lick my fingers, as you might as if you are dealing cards, my fingers stick togeather.

I see my GP next week, should I ask him to send me to OB/GYN? I know that sounds silly, a man going to one, but no one else has an answer. Maybe someone who deals with womens problems may have the answer.

Have you had this problem? How did you deal with it?
If I’m correct the hormones women take for breast cancer are different than what men take for prostate cancer.
I’m still looking for answers from men taking hormone therapy for prostate cancer.

I’ll extend this to see if any answer.
Thank you everyone, I went to my G.P. yesterday and he informed me that my reaction to the hormone shots, Trelstar LA is normal and it will go away when I am taken off hormone therapy.

Thanks again

My daughter is now thirty-six years old and has seen a GP, Gyno, Endocrinologist, and Internist. She shows no signs of menopause or perimenopause according to a number or exams and blood tests. It is uncomfortable ane embarrassing for her to go into meetings or go out for an evening because she keeps flushing and perspiring! Her hair gets wet, her make-up runs and she is miserable. Has anyone experienced this or heard of it?

How much do you take off for a physical exam?

I’m not talking about your gynecological exam. I’m talking about when you go to your family doctor for a yearly physical. I have a gynecologist whom I go to a couple of times a year and he of course does a pelvic and breast exam, but I also get a full physical from my family doctor each year and he too gives me a pelvic and breast exam. I understand that not all doctors do that during a yearly physical. I guess it’s because we have a history of both uterine and breast cancer in the family. Does your GP give you breast and pelvic exams during a regular physical too?

Can hormone levels be seen with blood tests?

Been in pain a lot for a very long time (over 18 months) and it’s getting worse. Had lots of tests and we think it’s gynecological. The pain is there pretty much all the time and comes and goes in different strengths but it’s always worse around the time of my period.
I haven’t had my hormone levels checked. Do they do this by blood tests? Could incorrect hormone levels have something to do with my pain?
I’m planning to see my GP again soon and I’m going to ask if I can have it checked out.
