Someone said if you don’t have insurance and you can’t afford health care, that hospitals are required to treat indigents. Can those people legally go get a gynecological exam to catch possibly early gynecological cancer, dental exam (they claim gum health is connected to heart health now), general exam, etc. so that they can catch problems early and live a longer life just like those who can afford the high cost of health care?

If you are in the hospital for a surgery?

do they do a gynecological exam even if the surgery is completely unrelated to that area? I’m wondering because I’ve never had one, but I’m going in for a surgery where I’ll be put to sleep next week.

I am TTC and the queen of peeing on a test way too early (I am impatient). This just happens to be around the time of my regular annual gynecological exam (today). It is still too early to test and I have finally come to accept that, but when my OBGYN does my exam, will he be able to tell if I am pregnant yet? Also, will any of his tests (the general pelvic and pap) hurt the baby if I am?

I just had my annual gynecological exam a few days ago, and I expresed a worry that I might be pregant. I take birth control and my boyfriend uses condoms, but my last period seemed a little strange. The doctor didn’t believe he needed to do a pregnancy test, but I am still worried. Is there a way he could have known by feel if I were pregnant? Should I take a test anyway, or am I being paranoid?
I’ve been on the pill for about 4 years, and I take it religiously. My period was very light, but it lasted about as long as it normally does. I was told that it’s typical for people who have been on the pill to have a light or even no period, but in my 4 years of taking it I have never experienced it.

Can a doctor force you to have a physical exam?

I am taking birth control since I was 15 years old. Now I am 25. I moved and I started to go to another walk-in clinic to renew my prescription every 6 months. I’ve been going to that clinic for a year now. Last time I had this doctor that I never saw before and he wanted to give me a physical/gynecological exam and I didn’t want to at that time so he gave me 3 months worth of my prescription and yesterday I had to go back because I am out of it and he didn’t want to give my any!!! All because I didn’t do my physical. That doctor knows me for like 3 months and now he gave me 1 month worth of pill and after that what??? Can he force me to do that??? It’s so stupid! He would prefer me to be pregnant than not have a physical! I’m so mad.
Wow look at ALL those nice answers from mens!! Put hey here for you guys! Do YOU get a physical-genital exam every year? You know where they put that long stick in your penis? Please gimme a break, you have NO idea what a woman feel like and have no right to comment on my decision. My question was simple as if a doctor can force you as that was it. The rest is MY business.

Since feminists think that the psychological discomfort from a gynecological exam by a man is justification to see only female gynecologists, do they think that the psychological discomfort from an exam by a homosexual male doctor justifies discriminating against homosexuals?

I am a 19-year-old female, and I went to get my yearly gynecological exam a few weeks ago. A medical student asked me the initial questions that are asked before the exam is usually performed, and when the doctor came in to perform the exam, the medical student as well as a nurse were both in the room, which was not okay with me and the doctor did not ask if I was comfortable with this. They both even looked at what was going on, and I burst into tears because I was so uncomfortable. I was just wondering if this was legal or okay because I was most definitely not comfortable with it.

Is an exam required to get birth control?

This is kinda complicated…. Here are the details:

-I have been on Seasonale for about four years because I used to get very heavy, long periods and I did sports in high school so that was a bad combination

-i’m still on the pill but my prescription runs out soon and I want to get more so I can continue to only have my period every three months because I hate dealing with it during school

-i’m nineteen and i haven’t and don’t plan on having sex until i’m married

-the last two times i’ve gotten the prescription for the pill, i’ve had to get a gyno exam, but the last time the doctor was very rough and it hurt and was extremely uncomfortable and embarassing for me, so i don’t want to have another exam if there is any way to avoid it.

-because i’m not having sex and want the pill only to control my periods, is there a way i can get it without having to get a gynecological exam???

First Gyn Exam?

Our family doctor has advised that we schedule our daughter for a complete physical and a gynecological exam. She just turned 16 and has no unusual symptoms. Does this seem necessary? He says it’s just precautionary.

Pelvic Exam for 8 Year Old?!?

Would there be any possible reason to perform a gynecological exam on a healthy 8 year old girl? Although I’m an adult now, I had an awful flashback to checkup when I was 8 years old. My pediatrician yanked down my panties and roughly performed a long, very painful pelvic exam. I was pretty shocked ( he never spoke to me at all). It hurt a lot. I was crying and begged him to stop but he ignored me. I was not sick, this was just a checkup & I was an extremely healthy kid. Can that exam have been necessary?

Whether it be a female doctor performing a physical on a man or a male doctor performing an gynecological exam; are you comfortable with a doctor of the opposite sex examining you?

A friend and I were talking about this today. Here’s the situation. You have a full gynecological exam scheduled. It’s just your normal annual exam and not a big deal. You get to the doctor’s office and find that your doctor just had to leave on an emergency. Another doctor can see you or you can reschedule for next week. The other doctor is a male and of a different race than you. Do you reschedule or have the exam?

Do I need to have an annual gyn. exam?

I am a 21 year old female. I’m NOT sexually active (still a virgin). Is it still necessary that I go for an annual gynecological exam?

I am 19 and have been sexually active for a year. I have only been with one person, as has my partner. Recently I decided to go to Planned Parenthood to get birth control. When I talked to them on the phone they said that since I was under 21 and had been sexually active for under 3 years, that I could get birth control without a gynecological exam. When I told a friend this, she claimed that not only was this unsafe but Planned Parenthood was unsafe and its perscriptions were expired. How much of this is true?
