Gynecological Exam in Chicago?

I want to take my girlfriend for a gynecological exam. We live in the Chicago land area and I was wondering which clinic would be the best to take her too? What is the average cost of a visit or are there any free clinics that would be able to do it?

Why didn't the obgyn perform a gynecological exam?

On Monday, I went to my first obgyn appointment following a visit earlier this summer to my gp. I primarily went in to get a contraceptive. Now, I know that because of a condition I have for which I have to take medication, my medication may impact how effective the contraceptive will be–hence it could lead to undesired pregnancy and malformation for the baby should I become pregnant. One of my expectations was a gynecological exam. It did not happen. Also, I know that I still haven’t had sex (sic!), so why, considering I am in my late thirties, wasn’t a gynecological exam performed? As well, because of my medical history, the obgyn said that if she were to prescribe a contraceptive, she would prescribe a normal dose contraceptive with a patch? I thought you could give a higher dose. I wonder is that combination plausible. How effective is it?
Even if I still haven’t had sex (sic!), and considering I have just turned 40, why wasn’t a gynecological exam performed (the gp did do a preliminary one)? Also because of my medical history, the obgyn said that if she were to prescribe a contraceptive, she would prescribe a normal dose contraceptive with a patch? I thought you could simply give a higher dose contraceptive. Excluding the issue of cost, how effective is combining a normal dose contraceptive and a patch?

I’m going to the gynecologist tomorrow, as I am getting married in March and need to go on birth control for the first time. I know that they will almost sure do a pap smear, but is this all? Or will they usually do a complete gynecological exam?

I just want to know what to expect, as I’ve never been this nervous before in my life. LOL
I am eighteen, and have never been sexually active. I meant to include this in the original question, sorry.

Can a gynecological exam be done under anesthesia?

I’m curious as to whether this would be possible. I was sexually abused aged 15. I’m 21 now and have ignored several letters asking me to make an appointment for one of these examinations. I’ve never even had one before, but I know exactly how it’s carried out. I’m still a virgin, but a couple of people have told me to stop being silly and go through with it, in case I might have cervical cancer and I wouldn’t know it. But I burst into tears even just thinking about going through such a personal exam. And it doesn’t help either that I have Asperger’s Syndrome (an autistic spectrum disorder), which only makes me even more nervous. I haven’t been in any relationships since I was abused, because I don’t want to feel that way again and I feel uncomfortable even undressing in front of the same sex. I feel as though I wouldn’t mind having it done if I was unconscious, but I’m unsure if that would be possible where I live (Northern Ireland, UK). Under the circumstances, would it be possible to carry out a gynecological examination under anesthetic? Additional information which makes me so desperate to seek answers; I had an ultrasound scan a while ago to test for Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome, but the results were inconclusive. So, I would have to have a gynecological exam to get a firm diagnosis. But I already told doctors that I couldn’t cope with it. Please help me if you can. It’s really depressing me. =o[

I’m 22 years old and was just laid off from my job. I have no health insurance and don’t want to be a burden on my parents since they’re having money issues with my dad injuring himself at work.

I would like to go in and have a gynecological exam. Will I be able to have this exam with little to no cost at Planned Parenthood? I’m currently seeking employment but am not having much luck, so that means no health insurance for quite some time.

How do they look for endometriosis?

Would a gynecological exam and pap smear show if I had endometriosis?? I just went to the doctor and everything seemed fine. But do they check for that in the exam or is it too hard for them to tell?

I am about to go to the doctor for my first appointment as an adult (I’m a female in my twenties), I’m basically "establishing care" with my primary care physician that I’ve been assigned to by my new insurance. What can I expect to happen during this appointment? Will there likely be a gynecological exam? Thanks!

How much do you take off for a physical exam?

I’m not talking about your gynecological exam. I’m talking about when you go to your family doctor for a yearly physical. I have a gynecologist whom I go to a couple of times a year and he of course does a pelvic and breast exam, but I also get a full physical from my family doctor each year and he too gives me a pelvic and breast exam. I understand that not all doctors do that during a yearly physical. I guess it’s because we have a history of both uterine and breast cancer in the family. Does your GP give you breast and pelvic exams during a regular physical too?

Gynecological Exam: Hurt when insert 2 fingers?

Doesn’t it hurt when they insert two fingers inside your vagina during a gynecological exam. Two fingers can be really wide. How could it not hurt you?

Gynecological exam before getting married?

My fiance and I are getting married in July. We are both virgins. Is it necessary (or a good idea) for her to get a gynecological exam before we get married? If it is then does she need to see a gynecologist or is a general practitioner ok?

Contraception pills without gynecological exam?

My fiancee wants to get contraception pills but the student health service at school says she needs to have a gynecologist exam every year to receive the prescription. She did that a year ago and had been on the pill until recently for a full year without any problems. Since she is from another country and culture, she really really feels unhappy having another intrusive gynecological exam. Question: is this procedure usual? Do doctors (non-gynecologist/gynecologists) give a prescription without any exam? I assume gynecologists make money on having an exam so it may not be in their interest to forgo this, what about general practitioners?

Do I need a gynecological exam for birth control?

My dermatologist and I recently discussed prescribing birth control to control my moderate acne. I was just wondering if I will be required to get a gynecological exam even if I am prescribed the bc by my dermatologist.

I’m 18 and I’m not sexually active.

I really don’t want a gynecological exam. My hormones are out of wack and I want to see an endocrinologist. Do I have to have an exam?
