Also i am on the contraceptive pill i have booked an appointment with a gynecologist but amnot sure if a gynecologist even does a pregnency test or can prescrible contraceptive pill.. Can someone help me an tell me if a gynecologist is the best to see about this or would a GP Doctor be better.

How old should my daughter be before I make her go see a gynecologist?
She is 15 years old. She is a virgin. I am kinda thinking I should take her now. What do you think? They say the recomended age to first take your daughter is 13-15, but 13 seems too soon. (that is what medical websites have said)
I also have a 13 year old daughter. I am wondering if I should take her too. I think it seems too early for the 13 year old.

What do y’all think?
the 13 year old just got her period last October (the day after she turned 13)

the 15 year old got her period when she was about 13 I think.
also, if I took my 13 year old, do you think they would do everything to her?
(all 3 tests?)

I’m 19 and have scheduled my first gynecologist appointment for a few weeks from now. I’m very unsure of what to expect and quite uncomfortable with the idea. Could somebody let me know what I can expect will be done/asked?

I’m 23 and I’ve had a lot of the side effects that birth control pills cause. Next week I’m going to talk to a gynecologist about lowering my dosage of birth control pills and eventually quitting. I also want to talk to him about getting a tubal ligation, because I don’t want kids. Ever. I’ve always known that.

I want to get the tubal ligation after I quit birth control pills though.

How should I talk to him about these things?

My gynecologist is thinking I may need a hysterectomy involving just the removal of my uterus as I do not have my left ovary or tube. I am thinking why don’t he just take the right ovary and tube while he is in there. I am a 38 yr old woman who has had female organ trouble since menstruals started at age 12. What is the best route to go? I have had somewhat of mood swings when I had the left tube and ovary removed.

I need to go in for my yearly visit but lately i’ve been having some anxiety and depression issues that seem to be becoming worse. Becuase of insurance I realize I need to be reffered by a doctor and just can’t make an appoint with a psychiatrist. Can I go to the gynecologist and while I’m there get a refferal to a psychiatrist for counseling and medication?

What are all the reasons a person would go see a gynecologist, for first visits or not? Please list all the reasons a woman would go for?
Please, no rude answers!
Thanks in advance!

I have my first gynecologist visit next Tuesday and I’m nervous. Does anyone out there have any advice to make my appointment run smoothly?

What am i suposed to expect when i go to the gynecologist for the first time? What do they do?

Does a gynecologist use a regular tape measure to measure pregnant belly? I was just curious. I am 30 weeks pregnant and everyone says I don’t look like I’m 30 weeks. I thought if a gynecologist uses a regular tape measure then maybe I can monitor the growth of my belly at home.

Is there any way that by examining a girl’s vagina, a gynecologist the can tell when was the last time that girl had sex? And how long back can the gynecologist go?

I have severe menstrual cramps, that are so painful that I cannot leave my bed for 2-3 days.

I’ve taken various anti-inflammatory drugs for this pain, including OTC Advil (Ibuprofen),Midol (acetaminophen),and Asprin.None of these drugs relieved my pain even by 1%. I have also taken OTC Tylenol 1 (8mg codeine), but I suspect that I am allergic to that drug.

When I approached my doctor about it, I got put on perscription anti-inflammatory drugs: Anaprox, and then later, Ponstan. Neither of these drugs provided the slightest bit of relief for me. In fact, they were just as innefective as the OTC variety.

I don’t want to elaborate, but birth control pills are not an option, and neither is visiting a gynecologist.

I would like to approach my physician about the idea of taking a different class of drugs, that is to say, a legitimate painkiller. However, I know doctors are reluctant to prescribe such medication, and wonder if I should even bother to try. Do I have a reasonable chance?
Bmac, that is by far the worst advice I have ever gotten in my life. You’re an FDA drug researcher? Please.

First of all, Canada does have 8mg codeine over the counter, as do other countries. Not everyone lives in the USA. What a ridiculous assumption on your part.

You ‘bet’ I don’t want to go to the gynecologist because ‘they will tell you that there is NO reason for you to need opiates’?

if you really must know, (and I already said I didn’t want to discuss it, but since you pushed the issue so rudely), I have experienced sexual trauma and am currently experiencing PTSD as a result. I’m terrified of anything even remotely related to sex, the idea of going to a gynecologist is one of the most upsetting things I can mentaly imagine doing.

I’d rather take the 3 days in bed.

Age for first gynecological exam?

I’m 14, have had my period for over a year and I am NOT sexually active. When should I have my first exam? Also, what should I expect? AND, my father is the only gynecologist in my small town, so what should I do? I won’t go with my father, I mean AWKWARD! So, what do you think?
Sorry for the bombarding with questions!

I have strayed away from my gynecologist, as I didn’t care for him much. And I haven’t been there in a few years and I know I NEED to go back, for my own health benefit. Can someone please recommend a good gynecologist in or around Pittsburgh? I’m in the Lower Burrell area so Fox Chapel, Alison Park, anything? Thanks for your help!

I have never seen a gynecologist so far, but I know that women often feel reluctant to see them.

Could you describe a gynecologist appointment with as detail as possible, so that I can understand why gynecologists "are not loved as much as hairdressers" by women?.(Pardon my cynism…)
