Hormone replacement therapy and dieting?

I have heard that dieting lowers testosterone levels. However, if your body does not produce any testosterone and you receive it all through hormone replacement therapy, will dieting have any effect on your levels?

How do i begin Hormone Replacement Therapy?

I’ve finally decided to begin my transition (male-to-female) and i need to know how to begin, as i understand i need to begin with Hormone Replacement therapy and i wanted to know how i should go about doing that in Idaho (specifically, i live at the university of idaho at moscow). Thank you all in advance ~<3

We are both 43 – She had cancer and finished treatment, but it sent her into menopause. She can’t get hormone replacement therapy, and basically told me "sorry, too bad, we are at a different phase of our life and get used to it." We have two young children and divorce is really not an option.
We already have gone 9 months with almost no sex – its been three months since she finished treatments
And how is this a choice between sex and my wife’s life?????

Heres my theory.
I was homeless for some time, therefore I am well enough informed to say that most homeless people are there because A) of drugs misuse B) of alcohol misuse or C) of gambling or all of these combined.
The simple, although not always particulary easy solution is to stop doing drugs, and/or drinking and/or gambling.
The Australian Army are very accepting of their homosexual and transgendered staff.
The Army will pay for hormone replacement therapy, counselling and the sex change operation itself.
So, should homeless transsexuals join the army to take advantage of the taxpayers generosity?

Why can someone not have HRT and smoke?

I read that if you have hormone replacement therapy and a smoking habit that it can be deadly or have terrible consequences.
What could happen to someone who has HRT and smokes? Why is it so discouraged?
(This is not for me personally. I’m a writer, trying to write a MTF character.)

I need clarity: I know TONS of women going through the change & they are unsure whether to take vitamins/natural supplements or Hormone Replacement Therapy?

They are literally at a standstill regarding what to take to combat the many, many symptoms of peri-menopause & menopause!

Ladies, tell me which road did you all take & what worked for you?

Thanks so much, sooooo…. many women are suffering from these symptoms & are ashamed to talk about them.

Your insight/knowledge will be very helpful to ALL women going through this & I will surely pass this information along to my friends & family members!

Do women in their 20s use estrogen cream?

because their birth control pill is causing vaginal dryness?

Also it wouldn’t cause arousal does it? Cuz the birth control I’m on gives me a high sex drive.

I use it for hormone replacement therapy because my body can’t produce hormones on its own.

My mother has been considering hormone replacement therapy to deal with her menopause, but also for other medical problems that I can’t fully explain. All I can really say about it is the doctors strongly advise the therapy and have warned her about health risks if she doesn’t do it. This isn’t the issue I’m talking about for this question though.
Right now she has only one reason for refusing the treatment. She is afraid that hormone replacement therapy will make her bipolar. I thought the idea was a bit outrageous, but I honestly don’t know for sure. I know bipolar is mostly due to a genetic propensity plus an environmental trigger. I thought bipolar disorder has to manifest itself some time before 40. I need real information for or against this argument.
I know menopause is hard on women. That’s why I’m taking this issue seriously and trying to get accurate information on it so that she can make a safe, intelligent decision based on fact and not superstition.

If I’m a transsexual and I have to wait a little while before I start any Hormone Replacement Therapy (for cost reasons, among other things) is there anything that I could start taking now that would slow down my production of testosterone?

SANTA ANA In the depths of depression, battling hot flashes and desperate about her situation, Monica Freas tried to throw herself from the second floor of the Santa Ana Jail before friends restrained her.
After two decades of taking hormone replacement therapy, the 35-year-old no longer had access to the drugs that made her feel comfortable in her own skin. She begged and pleaded with jailers for months to give her the medication that made her “feel normal,” but they refused.
“I just can’t even look at myself in the mirror anymore,” Freas said in a recent interview while in detention on suspicion of being in the country illegally. She rubbed her face and pointed to the stubble on her cheeks. “For years I tried hard to get to that point and for it all to be taken away.”
She and others have shared their stories with the Heartland Alliance National Immigrant Justice Center, an advocacy group that has filed complaints with the Department of Homeland Security alleging that jailers nationwide have deprived detainees of “adequate health care” by denying them the therapy.
Immigrant-rights groups, the American Medical Association and others in the medical community say hormone replacement therapy is necessary in cases of gender identity disorder. Those with the disorder feel a strong identification with the opposite sex, which causes intense emotional pain and suffering, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Others question whether taxpayers should fund the treatment for a certain population of immigration detainees. While immigration officials say they don’t know the exact cost of providing hormone therapy to detainees, at least one physician puts the price tag at about ,000 per person per year for treatment and monitoring.
It is unclear how many transgender detainees make up the estimated daily immigration detention population of more than 30,000 at nationwide facilities because Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials don’t track such figures, said ICE spokeswoman Virginia Kice. The Santa Ana Jail now houses about 40 transgender detainees as part of a contract with ICE.
Over the past few months, Santa Ana Jail has become the primary host for vulnerable and special needs ICE detainees – including transgender detainees – for the Los Angeles area, ICE officials said. The transgender detainees are separated from the regular inmate population for their own safety, officials added.
Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, an anti-illegal immigration think tank, said taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for the treatment.
“It’s one thing if you have a medication that is necessary for you to continue breathing,” he said. “It’s not what this is.”

During menopause, women often experience uncomfortable symptoms. Hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, irregular, changes in bleeding and loss of sexual desire are some of the most common. Black coho sh has been used for centuries to help women with menopausal symptoms, and is most effective in treating hot flashes. It seems to have some ability to mimic estrogen in the body, relieving the hot flashes and mood swings that plague so many women.

Limiting caffeine will help with your symptoms as well. Herbal teas, and using onion, garlic and lemon instead of salt should help as well. One study at UCLA noted that garlic halted the advance of heart disease in post-menopausal women.

Soy, shown to be beneficial in so many areas, helps with menopausal symptoms as well. Soy has a natural estrogen-like compound that helps balance hormones. Chickpeas, lentils and tofu will provide the same benefits. Complex carbohydrates like brown rice will also help regulate the amount of estrogen in your system.

Ensuring that you are receiving a sufficient amount of essential fatty acids by eating oils, nuts, seeds and oily fish will help relieve vaginal dryness and keep the skin supple.

Would hormone replacement therapy be helpful for men suffering from osteoporosis? I know it would be for women as it can help prevent osteoporosis for those in postmenopausal state. But I think it’s the last resort as it can impose additional health risks for females. So how about for men?

Im looking for an Endocrinologist in the Dayton or Cincinnati area who deals with Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for MTF transexuals. So far my search has lead me to a lot of dead ends. Most of the people I have talked to do HRT but not for transgendered people or they do not do self pay.

Hopefully someone will be able to help me narrow down my search.

Thanks,
Kyle.

Ive been married over twenty years , about late last year. I felt my wife being distant no intimacy ,kissing ,touching, well you know no sex . At first I thought it was a fase she was going threw but then 1 month became 2 and 2 became 3 . Before you know it 6 months went by every time I insinuate she says she really doesn’t feel like it. She also says she loves me very much and to please understand.Im in my fifties so what do you do , I decided to read on women’s health. Her symptoms are saying to me premenopause , I thought great maybe a pill .Like hormone replacement therapy , but if I love my wife the risks outweigh the benefits. To risky my beautiful wife could get some kind of cancer , so no that is out the door.I want to be Intimate but I want her alive. So basically what Im saying if you ladies are going threw something like this? Is there something else that we don’t know that is out there? Don’t say doctors because they only push HRT is what drug companies want and is a repeat Business later for them when you get cancer.P.S. Im not thinking with my pecker sometimes a good deep kiss and a little a$$ grabbing goes a long way.
