My husband and I did some infertility treatments over a year ago. And then decided to stop. Since then, Ive had very very irregular periods and skipped a couple periods.
Ive just turned 42, Im in good health, but Ive pretty much skipped the past two periods. In December I had just a spotting for a good 10 days, and then again here in January, it’s just spotting for 3 days. Ive had sort of Mild PMS type symptoms at all different times (rather than just before my period) my breasts have been tender off and on. It seems like I should be getting my period, but it’s just a tiny bit on the toilet tissue.
I dont really have hot flashes or vaginal dryness at all. But I just cant account for why my periods have begun to be so spotty. Could I be in menopause? Or starting menopause? It seems a bit early for that. Can women have menopause at my age?
Also.. has anyone else done fertility drugs and then had problems with their periods that lasted so long? Can fertility drugs cause me to begin menopause so early?

When people use recreational drugs, they basically take in chemicals that alter the neurotransmitters in their brain, making them feel a certain way. Human hormones, like endorphins (‘happy hormones’) do a similar thing. We already make hormones to use in therapy for infertility and other conditions. So, why don’t we use endorphins or similar hormones in the same way as drugs, synthesising them outside the body and introducing them into the bloodstream?
I’d like a fairly detailed answer if you can, from a doctor or someone with a medical background. Thanks!
