I have really horrible cramps. Midol used to work, but recently it doesn’t. My doctor prescribed me pain killers, and I ran out so I decided to just go to a gynecologist. What options might she offer me? I know birth control pills are one. Also, could there be anything wrong with me that i’m getting usch bad cramps or is it normal?
to Princess: I’m already 18 years old almost 19. I know how periods work. My periods are very regular..I just have bad cramps.

What is it that makes those pills that you can buy for menstrual cramping different from regular pain killers?

Do they have different/special ingredients, and do they work any better?

How can I stop my really heavy periods?

I went to the doctors today about my periods and she gave me pain killers to reduce the flow. They are known not to do anything and my periods are really heavy, like your constantly weeing. What is the best way to stop them being so heavy?

Has anyone had ovarian cysts during pregnancy?

I found out I have ovarian cysts about a month ago. Mine are the small percentage that are EXTREMELY painful. It is so bad that I can’t pick up my 16 month old and put him in his crib without feeling like I am going to cry. I just took a home pregnancy test and found out I am pregnant. Will this complicate the pregnancy? How will the pain killers I am taking effect the pregnancy?

I just recently had a total abdominal hysterectomy 3 weeks ago, with one ovary removed as well. Everywhere I look online it seems that I see nothing but horror stories or depressing stories regarding the recovery. I have Polycycstic Ovarian Syndrome and Endotremisiosis and was miserable before my surgery. Since having the surgery I feel like I have been given a new lease on life! I feel great!

The first week after surgery was murder, but I was off my pain killers one week after the surgery (and my pain tolerance is like negative 20!). By two weeks after the surgery I was back to my normal self – walking upright, walking normal, no pains! I am still completely following my doctor’s orders by not bending, lifting, cleaning, etc. I’m the poster child for following orders! :) But I feel great! I’m walking alot and now after 3 weeks I don’t even feel like I’ve had surgery!

Are there any others out there with great recovery stories? Let’s share the joy for others!

Does caffeine affect people differently?

In the last few years I have noticed that caffeine seems to last a very long time for me. I usually abstain from caffeine (except chocolate occasionally), but in the last few weeks I have developed a taste for hot chocolate (sugar-free) and usually have two- to- three 8 oz. cups from 7:30 am to around 11:00 am. After that, I pour a 16 oz. glass of Diet Cola that I sip on until 6:30 pm, but after that I do not consume any caffeine before bed time. The problem is that I cannot sleep at night anymore and, in fact, feel very "wired" and "hyped up" until around 3:00 am when I finally become sleepy enough to actually nod off, but if I only nap 30- to -45 minutes then I am wide awake when I wake up.

I don’t know if it matters or not, but I am including a little bio information in case it is needed: I am 43 years old, married, 2 sons, 2 dogs and live in Texas. I have been going through perimenopause since I was 27 (verified) and I have High Blood Pressure (low-dose medication) and asthma (only a rescue inhaler used as needed – approximately 3 times per week in the winter & rarely in the summer). My LDL and Triglycerides are high. I have had chronic back pain for 17 years and, as a result, I take 100 mg. of Morphine Sulfate twice per day, and 800 mg. of Ibuprofen twice per day.

I notice that if I completely abstain from all caffeine, by the second night I go to sleep very easily and wake up refreshed.

Is it possible to have a high sensitivity to caffeine? Enough that it would disturb your sleep for up to 48 hours? I am also highly sensitive to antihistamines and pain killers and wonder if it is a correlation?

Any answers, thoughts, or hunches are most welcome. Thanks!!

gynecological question?

ok so yea this sucks but i actually need help, i had an abortion about a month ago, i had it coz i am severly epileptic and im only 22 and single its messed up i know but just please if your going to answer the question just answer dont like say mean things to me. so i live with my grandmother and i didnt tell her about the abortion coz shes way against it and would kick me out if she found out i got knocked up, i had some perscriptions for tetracycline (antibiotic) and vicodin (pain killer) and it says on the perscrips that its from an obgyn but it doesnt say why, shes going to ask me what its all about what can i say? what disorder down there would cause need for antibiotics and pain killers and it has to be something other than a uti coz i thought of that and normally youd just go to a dr for that not a special obgyn clinic. thanks for the help ill choose a best answer.

Wife just had a hysterectomy and is constipated from pain killers. She needs relief that won’t cause cramping. Enema maybe ?

Black Cohosh is supposed to be used for menopause symptoms relief, but can i use it for period pain like cramps, stomach upset, bloating etc? I’m 15 years old, so will this be detrimental to my ‘womanly’ health? Also i can’t find any other pain killers so this is my only option.
