My Japanese friend is traveling to Australia for a year’s working holiday, She’s high risk for cervical cancer, and needs to be checked for HPV, and have a pap smear every three months. Can anyone tell us how much these procedures cost, both with and without insurance? Hopefully, she won’t let her insurance lapse, but there’s always a chance, and she needs to know how much it will set her back.

How bad does it hurt to get a pap smear?

In two days am going in for my first pap smear. Im not a virgin and I have a low pain tolerance. How long does it take them to do this and how much do they open u up down there. Am I going to be sore for awhile.

I have a gynecologist appointment tomorrow and im 16 and i havent had sex, but i am planning on having sex soon so i need birth control. I was wondering if i havent had sex YET do I just get the talk and the birth control or do i get the breast exam and pap smear (where i have to undress) OR do they do the exam AFTER im sexually active?!

How fast or long does a pap smear exam takes?

I’m 23, still a virgin. I want to wait til marriage, but I want to know if it also necessary to get it checked?? Even when I’m not sexually active at all. Just wondering if I should schedule a pap smear or not.

How often should a women have a pap smear?

I’m just wondering so i know when to do my next one. I just had one in March all were Negitive and i’ve only been with 1 man (my hubby) before and after the last pap smear.

I have a concerning Vaginal Discharge?

I’ve been dealing with a white, sour smelling discharge for maybe 2 years now. It isn’t accompanied by iching or burning or anything but a bad smell. I went to the Gyno, they tested it for yeast and bacteria. They basically perforned a pap smear, and it came out clean.

Unfortunately, this dicharge coats the inner lips of my vagina, around the opening, and all inside of it! It really smells awful and it gets on my underwear. It just doesn’t seem normal! What is up?!

Any idea what this could be? I am a 16 year old virgin.

I’m 17 years old and am interested in getting birth control for period irregularity and acne. I’m a virgin and have not done anything sexual. Is a pap smear necessary?

I have a cyst on my labia majora. It’s not a sexual or reproductive health problem, but it worries me. I want to go to this clinic (for cost-related purposes), but on the site, it states that they don’t perform gynecological exams.

I’m not looking to have a pap smear. Do you think they’d turn me away because my problem just happens to be on my vulva?

Am I getting a pap smear for the right reason?

I think I have a vaginal infection that has been going on for almost a year and everytime I go to get checked, they do a wet mount and find nothing. It seems that the possible infection has worsened in the last couple of months so I scheduled an appointment for a pap smear(this will be my first pap smear by the way.) Is that the right reason for a pap smear? Or should they just do another wet mount?

Also, I am barely turning 18 and have only been sexually active for one year.

Im 14 and I am going to the gynecologist for the first time. I am going because I skipped a period, and am going on the pill for the periods to be more regular. I am a little nervous though, because I’m not sure what a pap smear is. Is it painful? Do I have to take any shots, or anything like this? What are the procedures at the gynecologist?

I had a pap smear and pelvic exam done a week and a half ago. I always get very nervous when I expect results from the doctor. I was wondering if anyone has ever had an abnormal pap and did the doctor call you and how long did it take before he called you. My husband says no news is good news. I am extremely nervous and anxious about this, so please only serious answers. Thanks for any information.

i am having my first pap smear in nov and how soon after can i get birth control or whatever. can they still do a pap smear if you suddenly get on your period?

Is this normal or is it common? I’m 20 years old and this was my first pap smear test. What does this mean?

I haven’t had sexual intercourse in probably two years. The last time I tried using a tampon it was uncomfortable, I ended up taking it out. Would a pap smear be painful?

I’m guessing that the statistics I’m looking for aren’t published but maybe someone knows…

Given an ‘abnormal’ pap smear, how probable is it that it is not serious?

I realize there are a lot of things that can be abnormal about a pap smear and there are also a lot of things that can cause these abnormalities but I’m just looking for a very broad statistic at this time- for sanity’s sake.

Sometimes I think knowing that bad news may be out there can be worse than having the bad news itself.

Thanks.
