About 6 months ago I had a pap smear that came up "unconfirmed" and that I should test again 6 months later. I was not on my period at the time of the pap smear, but I do belive I had intercourse with my boyfriend the night before, or even that same day. I am going to schedual it soon, should I be worried?

I went to the gyno last year to get birth control pills to help me with my period like cramps etc and it’s helped so much, anyway, yesterday I went for a simple check up to see how the birth control going and yada yada then at the end he was like see you in August for your year pap smear and like, do I have to go, im still a virgin i’m planning on waiting until marriage so is it necessary to go for it again?

I recently went to my gyno after TTC for 6 months with my husband. I’m 28 yrs old and my cycles have always been long and irregular (approx. 45 days between). I went to the gyno for the first time for a pap smear and I told her this. Basically without asking me any case history at all… her solution was for a sperm count and blood test which is fine. Then she said quickly in a jumble of words that I wasn’t ovulating and my luteal phase was all wrong and that immediately after my next period were doing an HSG test and starting on Femera. She didn’t talk about the risks and made me feel very uncomfortable since I don’t take prescription drugs or therapies lightly and like to usually take the more natural route unless completely necessary. It’s only been 4 cycles of period since we started trying! I was not on BC before trying so she wasn’t waiting for hormones to balance out or anything. Many women in my family have had very irregular cycles and have gotten pregnant fine. Should I suck it up and trust my doc and go with the hsg and femera or keep trying naturally for a little longer? I’m not sure how much of a big deal doing the femera route is.
Also she said she didn’t think I was ovulating which is weird because she is basing that just off the fact that my cycle is long and no other information. Plus I think I have felt myself ovulating before.

Will getting a pap smear take virginity away?

I am planning on getting a pap smear but I am still a virgin. I am 23 years old and I heard that it is recommended to get one at age 18.

What do I need to expect in a pap smear?

I never had a pap smear before. I don’t know what they do, what they look for, and what all they can tell about you. If you were raped would they be able to tell? Would they be able to tell if you have been sexually abused many times? How does it feel to get a pap smear? How long does it take? What questions are asked? Is it any need to be tense?

Im 17 and ill be 18 in march. I heard that if you go to Planned Parenthood to get birth control, you might have to get a pap smear. First of all, what is it?
And second, I have not been sexually active for long, nor am i 21, so can i get the birth control WITHOUT a pap smear?

What is the first time at the gynecologist like?

Im 14 and I am going to the gynecologist because I skipped a period and I am going for them to put me on the pill to regulate it. I am a little nervous though, because I dont know what happens with a pap smear, or what the procedures are. What happens at the gynecologist?

I have an appointment tomorrow for a pap smear but I feel like my period is coming on today. If I get it, do I need to cancel my appointment?

Pregnancy Gynecological exams?

When I went to my first prenatal visit, I had a vaginal exam. Because I had a pap smear about 4 months prior, which came out normal, my OB said she wasn’t going to give me another one, but would only take a culture.
What is the difference between doing a pap smear and taking a culture? What does the culture test for? What does the pap test for?

Normally when I go to the girl doctor not only is a pap smear done but the doctor also presses on my abdomen to check for swollen organs, etc. I was so happy to get it done and over with this visit that I didn’t realize my doctor missed this step. Is that normal? I informed the doctor that I missed periods and had irregular cycles. Should I switch to another doctor or what?
well, I did have the breast exam and I’m not overweight. I think she was rushed because I’d ask her questions and she’d answer them before I finished speaking.

Why no cramps or heavy periods this month?

I usually experience heavy heavy periods and bad cramps. Lately they’ve been lasting the full 7 days and its awfully heavy and a hastle. I have not changed my diet really except for adding more vitamins to my diet. Please help me understand why its not as bad this month? I’m 26. Haven’t had a pap smear in 2 years.

How much spotting is normal after a pap smear?

I’m 8 weeks pregnant (I think) and had a pap smear this morning at my exam. I’ve been experiencing some light spotting since the pap smear which has been spread throughout the day. I never spotted after a pap smear during my previous pregnancy, but I know it’s normal. I’m just unsure exactly how long the "normal" spotting should last. Should I call the doctor if it lasts for a few days, or is that a normal length of time?

Thanks a bunch!

I have an appointment tomorrow for a pap smear but I feel like my period is coming on today. If I get it, do I need to cancel my appointment?

I’ve been taking birth control for a year. Before I can renew it, I have to go see the doctor. I’m still a virgin and I feel extremely uncomfortable about taking a pap smear. Since I’m turning 21 AND I’ve been taking birth control, I’m afraid that the doctor won’t renew my prescription until I take a pap smear. Does anybody know if a pap smear is mandatory in order to continue receiving birth control?

I had a Pap smear 3 days ago and have been bleeding since. It is not heavy bleeding – it is more like heavyish spotting with brown blood. I read it is normal to spot 1 day after a Pap smear, but is it OK if it lasts 3 days without getting weaker?

PS – on the day after the smear I had sex (the doctor did not mention that I shouldn’t do it). Could it have irritated the cervix and caused this prolonged spotting?
