A few years ago I was on the depo shot for birth control. I ended up having my period for 2 months straight. My husband and I have been TTC for a few months now and we are having trouble. I was just wondering if the fact that I had my period for that long could cause premature menopause? I am also 3 days late for my period this month and 2 pregnancy tests have said negative. Anyone know why this is?

Why has my period lasted 20 days?

I’m generally pretty reular… period comes every 26 days, lasts 5-7 days. Over the last few months, there have been some weird changes and I’m getting a bit worried. I’m going to the GYN in the morning, but wanted to get some ideas of questions to ask/things to think about, etc…

In September, my period was a few days late. I don’t remember if it lasted longer than usual I was on vacation, so I just chalked it up to the change in my daily schedule.

In October, my period was on time and seemed to last the usual 7 days. M husband and I had sex the day I thought my period had ended and I started again the next morning and bled for another 3 days. It wasn’t very heavy, but was more than just spotting.

In November, my period was extremely late… the latest it has ever been: 11 days late. I took numerous pregnancy tests, all negative. Had blood tests done (HCG quant and qual) and both said negative. Took a test the morning I was going to the GYN and got faint positive. Got to the GYN and had another negative. I started spotting that day, but it was different. Rather than red blood, I was spotting black with some stringy type stuff. That lasted for about 4 days and then it was like a flood for a few days, then back to the black spotting.

I started only a couple of days late this month, but it has been very, very light. It was brown/black spotting for a few days, then brown/black spotting mixed with red blood for a few days, then back to brown/black spotting for a few days. Yesterday, I started getting some red spotting again. After going for a short walk this afternoon, I got slightly heavier red blood, almost like my period was starting. Now I have hardly any red/brown spotting with some normal cervical discharge. I also started getting some mild pain in my ovary yesterday.

I have a history of ovarian cysts, which started after I had my left ovary removed due to an abscess. This pain almost feels like a cyst, but not quite. It’s more like ovulation pain. I haven’t had any fever. I have had pretty consistent cramping and pressure in my lower abdomen. (Cramps are about a 3 on a scale of 1-10) I’ve been able to run and walk with no obvious complications other than tonight, which I think was a coincidence.

I am 35 and not on birth control. (I refuse to take it due to the history of breast cancer in my family and I get worse cysts while taking it and have horrid side effects) I went through IVF over a year ago and was told that I am probably going into perimenopause due to having my ovary removed. (FSH was pretty high and I only got one egg which died within an hour).

I’m pretty concerned and am convinced I’m having hot flashes and all sorts of other symptoms, but I really think this is psychosomatic… I’m just so worried I’m causing symptoms.

Anyone have any thoughts? Any experience with anything like this?

And please, educated responses only. No smartasses, please.
I do exercise regularly and often, but I’ve been doing that for 5 years now… seems odd that it would just now be causing issues… ugh, this is frustrating! Hopefully there will be a non-scary answer in the morning.
also took an hpt this morning… bfn as suspected

Clomid and progesterone cream????

This is my third month of clomid 100mgs days 3-7 due to PCOS. The last two months I get positives on pregnancy tests, next day have all negatives, and a couple days later I get my period. I know I’m ovulating on it and having chemical pregnancies. Its heart breaking. I’ve read about using progesterone cream after ovulation while on clomid and was wondering if anyone ever used this method and actually got pregnant and stayed pregnant??? Please answer me, I’m so discouraged. This would be my 3rd baby, first with meds, and every month it just gets harder.

Hey guys, I’m currently two weeks late for my AF. I have been having my AF for almost 14 years, and this has NEVER happened! I’ve taken four HPT tests, all negative, and I had a blood test done Friday and it was negative as well. From what I read, if a blood test comes back negative, you’re 99% NOT pregnant. Well, if that’s the case, I’m scared as heck because what if it’s perimenopause? My aunt went through perimenopause at 28 and I’m scared to death that this is what it is. I haven’t even had my first child yet…what if I’ll never be able to have one? I’m only 25. I know all this stressing and stuff is not helping, and believe me, I’ve been doing really well in that department…but at this point, I’m not sure what direction I need to go in. Do I need to talk to my doctor? Do I need to do more pregnancy tests? Do I need to quit stressing so much and just wait it out?? Please help if you have any advice. Thanks!
Hoping, no not yet. What options are you referring to?

Progesterone Cream during luteal phase?

My hubby and I are trying to conceive. This is my third cycle off BCP and over the last couple of cycles, I noticed a luteal phase defect (9 days). This cycle, I began using natural progesterone cream right after ovulation on CD19. Today is CD 28 and my basal temp is still up. I took a pregnancy tests this morning with a 20hcg sensitivity and it was negative. Usually, I’ve been starting or spotting on cd28, but nothing yet. I am thinking that the progesterone cream is working, or is it possible that I still could be pregnant and hcg still hasnt produced yet. My questioin is whether or not I should continue to use the progesterone cream just in case? Also, will the cream keep AF from coming…because I don’t want to keep it from coming if I am not preggo?
I am usikng 1/8 tsp per day which is 19 mg. Is that too much?

Ok so my fiance and I have been trying for a baby but haven’t been able to to get pregnant. I went to the dr because I missed my period for 3 months and then started for 11 days and then stopped for 2 days and then started again for another 2 days. I went to the dr and he gave me a vaginal ultrasound and that’s when he told me that I don’t ovulate and that is why Im not able to have a baby, he then said I would have to get on medication to help me with that. I have taken home ovulation test and there are some that come out positive. So I am real confused right now about the whole ovulation thing. Also he ran some test on me because I have colostrum coming out of my breast and when i got the results back on the paper it says a person who is not pregnant is supposed to have a 2.0, a person who is pregnant is supposed to have 10.0 and premenopause is 2.5. Mine came out on the list at a 8.8. Is there anyone out there that has had the same thing happen to them or know whats going on??

Please no rude or sarcastic comments
Last time i took a pregnancy test was in July and it came out negative (thats around the time i went to the dr when he told me i wasnt ovulating) so i stopped taking pregnancy tests

Can you be perimenopause before age 30?

Some background: I’m 29, I started my period at age 8. I have given birth to 3 children. I’m trying for another child. I was 6 days late on my period, & never had this problem before unless pregnant. But on day 6 I started my period & bled heavily for 2 hours with cramping. Then I stopped. The next morning I woke up & was bleeding again – no cramping this time. Five pregnancy tests reveal a (-) in the window meaning I am not pregnant. I wonder if I am actually though & then I started wondering if it was actually my period becoming irregular because I am starting the stages of menopause. Everything I read says it starts about 35, but if I started my period early in life (not like the usual 15-16 yrs old) then would I be ending my periods early on in life too? I’d like to hold out hope that this is my period sputtering because of a pregnancy & it’s just too early to detect the hCG level’s yet. But only time will tell now. So I wanted to ask about the perimenopause for some thoughts.
Let me be a bit more clear – sorry if I wasn’t earlier. I do know what perimenopause is. I also know when it "usually" happens. I am NOT 35. I am 29. So my question is .. Can it happen BEFORE 30?

Progesterone cream?

I was on a website to order some ovulation and pregnancy tests as well as pre~seed and I saw that they also sell progesterone cream which is supposed to help with implantation. It says to start using after ovulation and stop using it 2 days before period is due. My question is this..please don’t laugh…where do you put it? The description says absorbs into skin quickly. Does it go outside or inside? If you have used this before please help! Also- did it work for you? Would you recommend it? Thanks!!
