Can taking DHEA affect the effectivess of the IUD?

The Mirena IUD seems to have lowered my sex drive and I’ve researched some about how the DHEA supplement can help with that, but, would taking it interfere with how the IUD works since it sends the ovaries signals to stop making progesterone or at least lower it?.. and taking DHEA would actually help put hormone levels in balance. So is it a good idea taking DHEA on IUD or not? Would the DHEA cancel what the IUD is doing to protect against pregnancy?

Hi there,

I’m currently 36 weeks and 4 days along in my first pregnancy. Over the last 8 days or so I’ve began feeling menstrual type discomfort and an ache in my groin. I went to my midwife and she said it was all completely normal.

That being said, can anyone clarify for me what exactly is causing these pains? What do they mean? What is the function of them? I realize this seems like a silly question, but I just want to understand what’s happening.

Thank you.

I am currently getting weekly shots of 17 Hydroxy Progesterone to prevent preterm labor. I am starting to feel very anxious, moody and overwhelmed with everything as I did when I took prometrium at the first of my pregnancy. Do the shots have the same side effects?? Has anyone else experienced this?

Can you develop Osteoporosis during pregnancy?

My friend and I were debating about how it makes sense, because during pregnancy the baby is taking most of the calcium so their bones can harden. Can that possibly lead to Osteoporosis?

I want to know if for some women, their menstrual cramps can be so strong and so severe it feels like a pregnancy contraction?
Yes my cramps were from my stomach thru to my back, down my thighs and I could feel it in every muscle in between even my butt. I got up to walk and was dizzy lightheaded and threw up two times.

I’m considering becoming a natural family planning teacher. I would teach a method called Billings, which is quite simple and helps either avoid pregnancy or become pregnant. I would like to teach it not only in a church setting but also to the general public (like in a community college). I just wonder if women would be interested. Thanks.
I would like to add that I use this method instead of birth control and it works great (I think the success rate is 99%).

I know it’s normal to feel more emotional during pregnancy, and this has been an emotional week for everyone (with the VT shootings and all), but I have been crying on and off for days. I want to cry all the time. Is this normal, or should I start to worry about depression?

The only place I’ve found is 7th avenue clinic and i refuse to go there because the people are rude and your herded in and out like cattle. I want to go to a comfortable place where im treated with respect and the doctor know what shes talking about and doing.
Also i don’t have regular medicaid its just the pregnancy medicaid, I really need help.

I’ve been working out alot more than usual…I may have even been over-exerting myself maybe. My period never really came on time; instead, i’ve had a very small amount of blood on around day 38 of the menstrual cycle (you should have your period ever 28-35 days). Also, I’ve never had sex, but my boyfriend and I fool around alot, but the possibility of me getting pregnant from that is slim. How can I tell whether this ‘vaginal spotting’ is just from sports or pregnancy or whether it’s just a very light period? Should I be concerned that i might be pregnant?

I know this is something I will discuss with my doctor, but thought some might have experience. My C-Section surgeon found some fibroids on my uterus while delivering the baby. Is this something that will need taken care of before I get pregnant again? I know they can get larger with pregnancy because of the blood supply, but just curious. Thanks!

I just found out I have gestational diabetes. This is my 3rd pregnancy, but the first time that I’ve had this. I have been a lot more tired and irritated during this pregnancy than the others. Could the gestational diabetes have anything to do with that?

As it says in the title, my friend Maggie is 7 months pregnant and she just found out she is pregnant! Crazy huh? She didn’t suspect anything, due to the fact that she has always had heavy periods and she is still having them throughout her pregnancy…the doctor said it is fine, and the baby is ok but I wanted your guys opinion?

I am a senior in high school and I want to go into being a doctor with pregnancy and infants. So what is the difference between those?

her head is very low and im getting pimples and sore breasts as if ive got a raise in estrogen. any1 know how long the baby releases the estrogen on an average? this is my first pregnancy and im 36 weeks.

What good films about pregnancy can you remember?

I wanted to watch some films about pregnancy with a friend who is pregnant, can you tell me any good films about pregnant women? No need to choose only happy films, she’s into all pregnancy films, even those who deal with difficult situations! Thanks!
