I am 22. Over the past few years, I have been noticing some changes occurring. My voice has been growing steadily deeper. I am getting unwanted body and facial hair. I have lost the girly shape to my hips. My libido has come to a stand still, I find it hard to sleep and when I do, I am still tired after waking. I shed more hair than a german shepherd, have adult acne, and so on and so forth. SOmeone suggested too much testosterone, so I took to the internet. Several medical sites claim that PCO can cause high testosterone levels, and I have had PCO since I was 12. I feel as though I could greatly benefit from estrogen, but I cant find any over the counter. Should I try progesterone creams or menopause treatments? How about estroven or similar products? Or should I take the time to try to get a prescription for estrogen? I cant afford a huge doctor bill right now, so please try to stay away from the prescription option if you can. Please help… I don’t want to feel like a man anymore

I am 23 yrs old and I have always been irregular since I started having my period at 13. Last month, I was nearly a month late and the doctor prescribed me Primolut N, and my period came after a week. During the course, I noticed that I was so energized and felt so good. I am usually very difficult to get up in the morning, sleep for 9-10hrs, and still not feeling refreshed after a long sleep. On the other hand, it is like a chronic fatigue. I read online and I came to the conclusion that I am suffering from hormone imbalance, which must be Progesterone, that causes irregular period and fatigue. In the past, I had taken a test for hormones and I was told that one of my hormones is lower than what it should be. At that time, I didn’t pay attention and forgot which one it was.
This is my CF test result,
Estradiol = 61pg/ml
Progesterone = 0.3 ng/ml
fsh = 6.8 mIU/ml
LH = 14.7 mIU/ml
prolactin = 16.7 ng/ml
although it is said that, it can be varied every day, before pre-ovulation and mid-cycle, I believe it is progesterone which is causing me all these problems. I looked for the supplement on the internet for Progesterone. I found nowfood natural Progesterone cream has lots of rave reviews. I wonder if it is suitable for a 23 years old young woman. I will go for detail check up and see the doctor when I have enough money, but I have to cure this right now with some over the counter medication. Thanks for the reply.

I am looking for a long term contraceptive, such as an injection or inserted device, however I am sensitive to progesterone. Are there any which use an oestrogen based hormone rather than progesterone?

I’ve been taking clomid and had a blood test last week. I got the results this morning and was told that my progesterone level was at 35. The Dr said they like to see it in the teens and that my level was a good sign that I responded well to the clomid and there was a chance of pregnancy. My period is due today, but haven’t statrted yet.
I want to know what the average progesterone level is in early pregnancy?

Would it increase or decrease the amount? Would a birth control pill with higher progesterone decrease the amount of vaginal discharge?

I started using Progesterone cream because for the
past couple months I have gone through a lot of
stress which caused my cycle to be delayed by a whole
two months. This has never happened to me in my life
but I guess our bodies change. Im 25. And I dont have
any kids. I was devastated to find out that I wasnt
pregnant after missing my period …i have had normal
30-33 day cycles all my life.
My last period was December 28th. earlier this month
when I noticed I missed my period I realized that
stress has taken a toll on my body. I DID my research
on 100% natural progesterone cream to use to
regulate my cycle again. I began using the cream on
February 11th, and I stopped using it on February
24th (14days of using it) in addition I began working
out every morning for 45 minutes. I was so happy to
see that my cycle came back! The third day of not
using the progesterone cream my period came on
(february 27th)…also I have been eating healthier.
I dont need this to happen again since I want to have
a baby. Iam learning that the exercise and a positive
attitude in addition to eating right has really helped.
Now I am trying to figure out if I should keep using
the progesterone cream after ovulation for a couple
more cycles before I stop using it, or is it
unneccessary to keep using it since I got my cycle
back. I kind of wanted to keep using it because
sometimes my luteal phase is only 11 or 12 days and
that is kind of short. Once the effective date comes for
this new policy I purchased for health insurance I will
be seeing a fertility specialist to speed up things.I
dont have any reproductive disorders and Ive had an
HSG and blood tests almost a year ago done by my
obgyn and everything was normal. Any advice on this
would really help.

Sorry this is long. Last month, on cycle day 28, took a FRER positive with first morning urine-faint but there. Next night on a whim I got some cheap tests I bought off internet- On a whim I took one that evening-so I wasn’t shocked it came out negative. But, the next day I started what felt like a full on period. Called to cancel later appt with OB, office staff said come in for u/s which looked like nothing there and they checked hcg in blood which was zero.
Fast forward to this month-my cycle varies but typically about 25 days so I took dip test on cycle day 26 got faint positive. Saturday and Sunday clear positive. I was still nervous from last month so I told my husband to get a digital so of course he gets a plus minus one instead, that too positive, In the meantime, I was sick and went to regular doctor. She ran a urine test for me and said definitely positive, Took an hcg blood to send off.
Called today and said you are good to go, call your OB. I come in and they say your tests were just weird. Qualitative was positive, but quantitive was 2.1 -there was an "A" flag by qualitiative which key said was abnormal. My OB drew more blood and chastised me for testing "too early." I told her Monday at the dr’s was cycle day 29!! She told me it could be chemical or and cheap tests can mistake LH (ovulation hormone) for hcg-. She also said I might be chemical pregnancy prone due to short luteal phase.
She drew more blood and said if hcg went up, they’d test again Monday, if the lab was wrong and its much higher I am o.k., if its still low and no period she’s going to give me a drug to induce a period cause its not a viable pregnancy. She also discussed progesterone therapy or giving me a drug to induce ovulation because she said that a short cycle could be inovulatory. But, she said to use first morning urine with opk’s and count ay color change as positive for ovulation. I told her I bought one and it said to use midday urine after holding urine and she insisted that was wrong. On a whim I took to urine tests I already had at 6p.m., both came up positive very quickly with a very dark line. I know for a fact the month before my son was conceived my cycle was exactly 26 days!
I know only the tests can tell me what’s going on-I just have questions about whether or not her advice sounds kosher-its going to be probably 5 p.m. tommorow when 2nd hcg from different lab drawn today comes back.
The OB called today and sadi she thinks lab#1 was wrong, my hcg was 350. She is starting me on promethium to help support the pregnancy. Please keep me in your prayers!

It doesn’t make sense. Why do your breasts hurt the week before your period when your progesterone is high and your estrogen is low? I thought estrogen caused PMS symptoms.
What can you take for specifically the breasts or just in general that’s not medication?

I have turner syndrome, so I just started taking premarin tablets and they’re supposed to give me boobs and start my period. I am on the 1.25 doseage which is the highest you can have. I’m 14. My question is, since I don’t have progesterone, will the premarin still start my period, and if it will, how long does it usually take for the premarin to work?

Using the terms LH, FSH, ESTROGEN and PROGESTERONE, how does the menstrual cycle do? How does it happen leading up to the egg being fertilized. Just a brief summary could help. Using those terms! thanks!

I have a very regular cycle – 28 days. I started having bad cramps and my breast was hurting for about 5 to 6 days now. My period should start in 4 or 3 days. I cannot figure it out if I am having very strong PMS symptoms or maybe early pregnancy symptoms. In the meantime I was tested for progesterone level last friday and it was on the level 10. I guess it can be either way? But is there a way to tell the difference between these symptoms?
