I read somewhere that if you retain your cervix and your ovaries, you could still have mini periods. Something to the effect that although the uterus is gone, the cervix can still build up a lining that will shed because the ovaries tell it to. I thought a hysterectomy would put an end to all bleeding. Anyone know about this?

Endometriosys runs in my family and so I am used to painful periods. Only this started about 6 months ago. My uterus swells sometimes after intercourse and will have shooting pain randomly throughout the day.

I have had my uterus and ovaries removed, I am on HRT, but still get really hot sometime, but I don’t sweat? What could it be????

I am having a hysterectomy (just uterus) on wednesday. Pre op tests are tomorrow. Blood, Urine and an EKG. Will these test for cocaine or alcohol? Do they have to tell me before?

Can fibroids keep you from having children?

I want someone who has actually gone through this to answer. If you have had fibroids and had a successful pregnancy and healthy baby or if your are having trouble getting pregnant. I’ve just discovered that I have 3 fibroids in my uterine walls and one outside the uterus. I don’t want to miss out on having my own babies and I’m scared that this may ruin my chances of ever experiencing that. So your answers are very much appreciated .

Can a woman who has had a complete hysterectomy(no uterus or ovaries) have ovarian cancer?

my mom just got a hysterectomy and she also got her ovaries taken out with the uterus SO. what are the symptoms during recovery that she could experience?

It started around the time I started my new medications for my diagnosis of PCOS, birth control (Zarah) and Spironolactone. (Been on these for 16 days–about two weeks) and I have taken a notice that both my ovaries and uterus pain me when I urinate. I’m not sure if these two medications are related to this or not. They also seem to hurt if I move around too much. Any ideas? It does not burn when I pee or anything.

Gynecological exam hurt, is this normal?

I am a 25 year old virgin and visited the gynecologist for the first time. I told the doctor I had not had sex and was in for the routine check-up. She said she wouldn’t do a pap smear on me since I wasn’t sexually active but would do the rest of the exam. The moment the doctor inserted the speculum I was in such pain I was on the verge of tears. I told her it hurt and she said "OK, let’s just skip that part." Next, she inserted her fingers to check the uterus and ovaries and once again, this hurt SO bad that I was going to cry and as soon as I told her she just stopped what she was doing.

She didn’t give me an explanation as to why it hurt so bad and instead just stopped and when I asked if everything was ok she said my cervix looks fine "from what I could see, but I didn’t have a chance to see much.." I asked the nurse why it hurt and the nurse said since I was a virgin my hymen is intact.

Is it normal for this much pain? I literally was still feeling some soreness hours after the exam. Also, I don’t think the doctor really even examined me since she stopped everything she was doing when I said it hurt. I’ve talked to friends about this and they said it really depends on the doctor and that I should find a different one. I’m concerned maybe something is wrong with me because it hurt so bad?

my bladder and uterus are aching really bad, i cant sleep. what would help with the sleeping during a uti?> i have been awake for days and am totally exhausted from fighting this. am on antibiotics.

My girlfriend went to the ob/gyn today and the Dr was very upset that she’s been on Premarin for over 8 years now (prescribed by her primary care doctor for hot flashes.) She’s scheduled her for a sonogram to check her uterus to make sure it’s ok.
What can happen if you’re on this medication for longer than 5 years?

Heavy/Painful menstual cycle?

My menstrual cycle is weird.

It’s irregular, most times lasts longer than a week, (the record is three) and is really embarassing because it’s so heavy and unpredictable. I keep ‘personals’ with me all the time, and there’s always a change of clothes in my car, just in case, but it’s really just…embarassing.

I get huge blood clots, it almost looks like chunks of my uterus are coming out, and it’s very painful. It feels like someone’s ripping out my intestines and tying them in knots. Most of the time, it’s way too painful for me to move much, and I take Ibuprofin like candy, but I still move around like an arthritic old woman.

I’ve been to the Gyno, but she says the pain is normal, and I’m just exaggerating it, and all girls have some issues with blood clots. She brushes off all my questions like they’re nothing, while I’m pale and sick looking from the pain and the pills and the bleeding.

I’m not a ‘free spirit’ by any means, so I know it can’t be an ‘invasive’ issue.

I need specific molecular interactions…not just "they change the uterus."
