How prevalent is yeast infection and what is it?
I would like to know what yeast infection is, whether it is the same thing as candidas. Also what percentage of women develop it.
Menopause natural remedies and help with hot flashes and night sweats.

I recently had a urinary tract infection, due to unsanitary bathroom conditions at school, and took antibiotics. though the UTI was cured, a yeast infection developed and is now the main source of discomfort. I’m planning on picking up monistat from the store, but I’m also wondering if it is okay to just let it heal naturally… and how that would work and how long. thank you.
Help! When I was 14 I started my period [September-ish] and in January i started getting this itching, burning, feeling and it hurt to pee–it felt like i had to go, but when i went barely anything came and it burned! It would come and every couple months. My periods still weren’t even regular yet. I know it’s was stupid but i started being sexually ‘playful’ with my boyfriend–which lead to being sexually actuive. and the iching, burning, and everything became a bit more frequent, ever 2 or maybe 3 months, and the symptoms would last about a week. and by now I was almost 16.
My boyfriend and I stopped and we know it was stupid and wrong, and we’ve completely taken care of that, even with our parents and everything so you don’t need to lecture me on that, please. I thought it was a yeast infection around this time so i took some like couple day thing to fix that and used the cream to stop the pain and itching. it went away then, but came back a month or two later.
It wasn’t consistent, and still isn’t, but i never wanted to go to the doctors because i was scared. so at this point in time it’s been at least two years, and it comes and goes.
I started thinking it was a urinary tract infection because all the symptoms for that fit me. and I talked to my dad about it–I’m closer to him then my mom. and i said it would go away and be gone for like 2 to 3 months so it wasn’t a big deal. but he was willing to take me to the doctors and said i should get it checked out.
Now I’m 17 and I’m still with the same guy, and we both have only EVER done stuff with each other, and although it has been over a year since we had sex, we still will play around occasionally but we are always REALLLY careful, like even when we did have ‘sex’ we would always pull out before he even exploded, not mattter if he had a condom on or not. [so i don't even know if you could call that sex to begin with but whatever.]
but right now I’m really scared because today it was itchy, but i went to the bathroom and was totally pain free, but before i went to bed i noticed it was really red, which is unusual for me. Then I noticed on the inside of the ‘lips’ or whatever you want to call them, there are white dots. I know normally there are bumps in the skin[[not huge or anything]] but now the inside skin is bright red, and the bumps are a white-ish color.
I’m really scared, I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
My boyfriend knows, and my dad knows most of it, but i just don’t know what to do.
I have always said once i turn 18 i’ll ask the doctors about it, but going from 14 to 18, would it get worse and turn into something really bad?
I’m scared I may have waited too long, please give advice, besides just simply going to a doctors.
have any of you ever had anything like this?
I mean I have researched it and i know some women get yeast infection every single month for there whole life, am i just that unlucky. :[ Or is something really bad wrong with me
I’m the type of person that jumps to the worst conclusion first, so i reply with your knowledge or opinion would be greatly appreciated!!
I know this sounds like a gross question but, I had a yeast infection in my belly button (odd, I know, but the doctor confirmed it) and I woke up one morning to my cat licking my belly button!!! Gross. But anyway, is it possible that he will get a yeast infection in his mouth now? If so, how would I treat it or what signs do I need to look for to tell if he has one?
I didn’t believe the article I received saying that my yeast infections could be from eating too much sugar until I noticed I started having some symptoms right after eating candy ( Yeah, I know I shouldn’t eat it). Anyhow, the symptoms seem to go away when I control my sweet tooth better. But would the same thing happen with someone who got the yeast infection from me. I mean, would the yeast infection be treated (with antibiotics) as an STD?
i have vaginal iching, no pain while urinating or burning at all. also, i haven’t had my periond in 6 weeks, maybe a bit longer, although, i’m usually a bit late, what could this be?
what i hope is possibly a yeast infection and i’m jsut late with my period.. but i am a virgin, so idk
I’ve been taking 875 mg of generic augmentin (an antibiotic) twice a day for 10 days for a throat infection.
Of course, I developed a yeast infection a little over a week from the day I started the prescription.
I was wondering if it would go away by itself once the antibiotic left my system or if I need to get some sort of OTC treatment.
If it will go away on its own, about how long should it last?
Also, are there any good home remedies to treat the itching?
What do you get yeast infection from? I’ve never had any kind of sex but I think I might have yeast infection :S Are there simple over-the-counter medicines you can buy without a prescription to treat it? How do they usually work?
I took the prefilled Monistat 1 ovule 4 days ago and I swear within a couple of hours the painfully intense burining/itching of the inside stopped almost completely!! When I woke up the next morning, I couldn’t even tell I had a yeast infection. Well, I am still having very very slight external vaginal itching but not alot. I’m also having slight odorless discharge. I am pretty certain it was a yeast infection I had b/c after taking the Monistat, my symptoms almost completely went away but why am I still iching even slightly after 4 days when it’s supposed to be a 1 day treatment?
Okay, so I’m a 16 year old female and I’m having this odd vaginal discharge.
I am a virgin and have had my period for a couple years. And I’ve had this discharge for quite some time now, and I always thought it was normal, but now I’m thinking it is.
The discharge is:
- White
- Sometimes Chunky but also sometimes stretchy (yet thick always).
- A strong "sour", foul odor
But there is no redness, burning, or iching. I don’t know what is wrong. Do I have a yeast infection?
iching burning stinging……and its not a yeast infection anibiotics were use to treat it but that was not the case.
I’m pretty sure I don’t have a yeast infection — otherwise I’d just see my doc. I’m just itchy, probably from increased (tho not "yeasty") discharge.
Is it ok to use external vulvar anti-itch cream? Or does this constitute something I should see my doc about first.
A few weeks back I went to my gyno and found out I had a yeast infection (my second in 2 years). I was prescribed a Diflucan and took it a few days later. The last time I had a yeast infection, due to candida, the Diflucan worked wonders. This time, NOTHING!
The area around my vagina is red, sore, itchy. There’s dry skin. It’s even flaking and I’m "sticking" to myself.
I feel so embarassed even typing this but I’m at my wits end! I’ve been having more discharge than normal, so much so that I need to wear pantyliners and change them often. I had a slight tear above my vagina and when I scratch (bad habit of scratching) it sometimes bleeds slightly.
I don’t know what is going on! I’m scared and freaking out. Is this more than a yeast infection?? What could it be?? Please only serious answers…
I’ve only been with ONE person.. any help is greatly appreciated! ![]()
Also, I have the razor bumps on the area around my pubic hair and I’m scared to shave now. Could shaving have something to do with this too?? I should have mentioned the discharge is normally a creamy white or clear color.. but sometimes it leaves a yellow color in the panty liner.. and my urine has been very yellow at times as well.
Yes I plan to go to the doctor but I need to know what could be wrong or if this sounds like a yeast infection that got worse due to scratching

Thank you for the responses.. I’m so scared.. are there any std’s or serious illness it could be?? I’m hoping it is just a very bad yeast infection.. I mean the doctor said that’s what it was 3 weeks ago but blah…
I was prescribed Diflucan this time was well. I did not take it on my own. It’s one pill and I took it several weeks ago.
i recently have been questioning if i have a yeast infection… although someone told me to put use monistat and if it feels warm after use i have an infection… however it didn’t really feel warm but i cant tell… feminine itch products make me itchier… vagisil and monistat itch cream make it kinda worsee…. what should i do?
Hi everyone,
Since July, I have been having unusual vaginal discharge. It’s yellowish in color, and it usually comes morning or early afternoon. Somedays I get a lot of it, other days hardly any. It is not ichy or painful. (I get occasional vaginal iching, but nothing that seems out of the ordinary. I went to see my doctor, and he said he couldn’t find anything wrong. He told me he didn’t think I needed to do anything about it.
Sooooo…has anyone heard of this before. Ladies, have any of you dealt with this?
I should add…I have only ever slept with one person and we’ve been together for three years (we’re engaged now) so I’m at very low risk for STD’s. I was actually tested for STD’s twice this summer (because of the discharge) and nothing came up.
Also…this isn’t a yeast infection. I’ve had those before. In this case, however, I took yeast infection medicine several times and it didn’t help. The doctor’s tests turned up no yeast.
I’m 27 years old. And the doctor I saw was an OBGYN.
