This is an intimidating question to attempt to answer. It’s really just a prompt for speculation.
That being said, my personal belief is that, similar to the carrying capacity of the Earth, our continued advancement of technology will allow for drugs in the future to substantially increase our abilities, up until a point that the limits of nature take over and we level off. Technology essentially allows us to cheat at evolution and advance by leaps and bounds towards "perfect" species survival. However, the complex intricacies of the human body’s systems may never be fully explained while we remain in existence. There is simply too much, and this will limit our ability to create perfect drugs to make ‘perfect’ humans.
If this isn’t the case, and we somehow acquire full knowledge of how we work, I believe that some other factor will prevent us from perfection/immortality. People die more of cancer today than in the past for the simple reason that we have defeated so many illnesses that we now live long enough for age-related cancers to form. Perhaps if we defeat cancer entirely, we’ll come to find out that the body naturally disintergrates at 200 years old or something bizarre like that. More on topic to your focus on muscle and brain enhancement, I’m sure that there are further limiting factors that are similar to the ones that exist today. By this I mean that just as stimulants now are mostly neurotoxic and cause oxidative stress, it seems likely that solving these problems may lead to new ones due to the side effects of whatever new drug we use….
The only form of spirituality I consider is the importance and natural existence of balance. These drugs seem to counter the natural balance of not only the human body, but also the universe. So due to that I don’t think we’ll ever reach anything like perfection. Sorry I couldn’t be more specific, but as I often say, I know enough to know how little I know!
