What is/was your experience with perimenopause and irregular periods?
I’m 46 and my periods have been very regular for as long as I can remember. My last two cycles in May and June were 25 days apart instead of the usual 28-30. I now have not had a period in 9 weeks and have not ovulated in about 11. I am not pregnant. There is some unusual stress going on this summer in that we have had to move into a hotel temporarily and will be moving into a new home next month. I expected that when I started having irregular periods, I’d skip a month here in there at first but not suddenly 2 or 3 (or more) in a row. Is this typical? Thanks.

It was typical for me. My cycle shortened up to 21 days for a few years. Then I started skipping them now and then, and eventually I was down to one every 6-8 weeks. When I was your age, they just seemed to come to a screeching halt. I had three more periods, but they were nine months apart. So I was done at 48.
Perimenopause is such a strange time when everything you are used alters. Mine was just like yours. Keep a diary and note symptoms changes etc. Stress can affect you, but it’s all tied up with hormone depletion. You can ask your GP for a blood test that determines whether you are perimenopausal. By the way I absolutely love the freedom of being post menopausal. It’s just so freeing, and less expensive!
